That being said, it seems Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura is aware of this and is planning Kingdom Hearts 4 to be a reset or reboot of sorts for the franchise. In a way, this will be a terrific approach to get new players onboard while probably confusing diehard fans more.
In a recent interview with Japanese magazine Young Jump, Tetsuya Nomura spoke with the staff about Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth and Kingdom Hearts. While most focused on Rebirth, Nomura mentioned a few interesting things regarding Kingdom Hearts 4, mainly how we should see it as a reboot of sorts for the franchise.
This time, both “Kingdom Hearts Missing Link” and “Kingdom Hearts IV” are being made with a stronger focus on being new titles rather than sequels.
