Olaf is one of the most curious characters among all your neighbors in the vale. This cute snowman enjoys talking with the wiser characters to learn and discover more about the world around him, including Lorekeeper from the Storybookvale DLC. However, our tired and worn-out book needs a lot of rest while we find all its pages. So Lorekeeper will ask for your help to distract Olaf in Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Hoot And A Half quest. Even Olaf needs to use his time for other things.
How to Trigger A Hoot And A Half Quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley
First, you need the Storybookvale DLC to find this mission. Otherwise, it will be impossible, as you need to talk to Lorekeeper. If you already have the DLC, you can find a notebook full of notes in one of the rooms of The Library of Lore. The room is the one in the East, the one facing The Elysian Fields. Then, look for two sofas next to the bookshelves; you will see a notebook sparkling on the floor. You will activate the A Hoot And A Half quest as soon as you pick up the notebook. To complete this quest, follow these steps:
- Go to Olaf to return his notebook with Fun Facts. Olaf will tell you about Lorekeeper and everything he has taught him.
- Then Olaf will tell you to accompany him to The Library of Lore to see Lorekeeper.
- Listen to the conversation between Olaf and Lorekeeper.
- Then, the Lorekeeper will ask you to help the snowman find another way to keep him busy.
- The mission will ask you to find Anna for help. When you talk to her, she will tell you that Olaf needs a new hobby with something that is in The Bind because the snowman is excited about everything in that biome.
How to Find a New Hobby for Olaf
Anna will ask you to take several pictures of things that might catch Olaf’s attention in The Bind, so you should take photos of the following places or things:
- A mysterious hidden doorway beneath the bridge.
- This is the secret passage where Aurora was hidden, you find it in the initial Storybook Vale DLC mission with Merida.
- x2 pictures of the Fountains in the Storybook Vale.
- There is one fountain on each side of the passage.
- The Library of Lore.
- Take pictures anywhere inside the building.
- x3 pictures of different Owls.
- This can be the trickiest part if you are not on the right day or time, as it can take a couple of days to complete.
Once you have completed all the pictures, you should show them to Olaf, who will now want to start his hobby of Birdwatching and will want to make friends with an owl. You should make one of the owls your companion; you can do this by feeding them grain. If you feed owls only with their favorite grain, Barley, they will become your companions in fewer days. When you finally make friends with an owl, go back to Olaf, who now wants you to make something for the owls to gather around: an Autumn Mage Scarecrow. To create the Scarecrow, you will need the following:
- x10 Petrified Wood
- x5 Trumpet Snail
- x5 Soil
- x10 Pine Cone
- x1 Sorcerer Hat Hermit Crab
In the end, you only have to place the Autumn Mage Scarecrow in The Bind and talk to Olaf. In return for all your help, Olaf will give you Barley, and you will finally complete A Hoot And A Half Quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
