While late-night show personalities are plenty funny in their own right, many of the best have amazing scripts to work with, created by talented writers behind the scenes. One of those artists, Daniel Kibblesmith, seems ready to break off onto his own in the industry, with an all-new comic series titled Quantum and Woody.
In collaboration with comic publisher Valiant and explosive artist Kano (Daredevil), Quantum and Woody will follow two estranged adopted brother’s adventures as they return home to Washington. Together they will use their superpowers to solve the mystery of the murder of Quantum’s (Eric Henderson) father, who also adopted Woody (Woodrow Van Chelton).
The catch? The two brothers must clang their band-wearing wrists together every 24 hours to avoid evaporating into nothing. The other catch? Quantum is a bit selfish. In an interview with The Washington Post, Kibblesmith explained the reasoning behind Eric’s attitude.
“The reason Woody can’t pursue [his biological father] on his own is because Eric refuses to do the 24-hour flight,” Kibblesmith said. “You have this extremely practical reason that they’re fighting and it’s sort of two stubborn people playing the role of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object.”
In the interview, the writer goes on to explain that his first few issues of Quantum and Woody wont focus too much on politics. Despite his history of writing those type of jokes and the setting of the nation’s capital, Kibblesmith said the first arc is focused on the deterioration and restoration (via road trip) of the two brothers relationship.
The Quantum and Woody series will set to debut December 20, 2017. Featured covers will be done by Julian Totino Tedesco (Hawkeye), Geoff Shaw (God Country), Nick Pitarra (The Manhattan Projects), comics legend Neal Adams (Green Lantern/Green Arrow), and Clayton Henry (HARBINGER WARS).
