So far, players have been enjoying the unstable Build 42 of Project Zomboid with the new locations, skills, and the hilarious glitch that multiplies pigs overnight. However, survivors have been doing it alone since there isn’t an official option for online co-op play. But that might change soon. Steam user hakcenter is working on a multiplayer mod for Project Zomboid Build 42, and while it is in the early stages, it is looking great with each update. Hopefully, survivors will find a way to band together to meet their imminent end in Knox Country soon.
The Steam Workshop mod is Multiplayer Buttons, and you can install it for Build 42 of Project Zomboid. According to the description, this mod “enables the missing multiplayer labels.” Anyone playing the new unstable update knows the multiplayer option isn’t there, but this mod brings it back.
Even if the mod has been out since January 1, the developer is actively developing it and has been making a lot of progress, with one of their latest comments saying the following:
I’m not that tech-savvy, so I’m not sure how far the progress is going, but it seems it may take a while until we see a proper multiplayer option for Build 42, with or without mods. Still, it is great that someone outside of the game’s development team is working on such a requested feature.
Also, this isn’t the first time someone has tried to make a multiplayer mod for Project Zomboid Build 42. Steam user Bigoljigglytings tried to make one as well but the mod was banned because it was non-functional, according to the game’s developers. They even replied to the matter here. So far, hakcenter is doing a proper job at restoring the multiplayer functionality of PZ. If all goes well, we’ll be able to brave the zombie-infested lands with our friends soon. In the meantime, and as the kids say nowadays, we have to let the modder cook.
