Donald Trump Supporters “Treat the Inauguration Like a Sporting Event,” Booing Barack Obama and the Clintons: ‘That Speaks Volumes of Our America’

A shameful display of disrespect

When it comes to sports, people can get quite rowdy depending on whether the team they are rooting for is winning. Fans cheering or booing players during a Super Bowl is anything but uncommon, but it’s hard to imagine that same energy being brought to something as formal as an inauguration. Nevertheless, former Presidents Democratic Barack Obama and Bill Clinton received resentful boos from the crowd during Donald Trump‘s inauguration on the 20th.

Arriving at the Capitol to observe the inauguration ceremony, Bill Clinton attended the event with his wife, Hillary Clinton. Barack Obama attended as well, but Michelle wasn’t with him for the inauguration. Needless to say, millions of Republicans around the country were doubtless very eager for President Donald Trump to be admitted again into office. The Trump supporters present at the Capitol, however, were anything but welcoming to the 42nd and 44th Presidents of the US.

“These people are treating the inauguration like a sporting event,” remarked a top comment, observing how the intense booing for Obama and the Clintons would be something you’d hear at a football game. It’s the “mentality of Republicans and the state of the U.S. in 2025, unfortunately,” responded another commenter. “At this point, US politics is WWE,” said a third, referring to how crowds can go absolutely wild for their favorite (or least favorite) wrestlers.

“That speaks volumes of our America. The lack of respect we show each otherโ€ฆ God have mercy on all of us,” commented another viewer, deeply disappointed by how unsportsmanlike the Trump supporters were for the two former Presidents. Many users followed up by calling out the booers as “low class,” disgraceful,” and “immature.” The lack of respect shown for former leaders of the United States is indeed disturbing and a sad display of how divided many Americans are against those who don’t share their political stance.

Donald Trump might be the ‘favored President of the current time,’ but it’s important that Americans do not forget the accomplishments that were achieved during the Obama and Clinton Administrations. For example, Obama was influential in promoting diversity and proper representation across different fields. He also made the economic situation better for entrepreneurial startups and businesses, per the National Archives.

Likewise, Bill Clinton and his wife might have their share of controversies like any other President or Presidential candidate, but good things did occur during Bill’s time in the White House. Millions of new jobs were created, homeownership was at a historic all-time high, and the crime rate was notably lower.

Notwithstanding what the two former Presidents achieved, the parade arena crowd’s reaction to Obama’s and the Clintons’ arrival at the Capitol indeed speaks volumes about how many Americans see those who’ve held the White House office โ€” with disrespect. Fortunately, there are plenty of others ready to call out booing as a very distasteful gesture toward any President, regardless of party. Only time will tell if Americans will become more connected or divided under Donald Trump’s second round in office.
