Sean “Diddy” Combs launches battle against his New York prosecutors months after the infamous raid of his prison cell, accusing them of illegal conduct in a lawsuit. The disgraced rapper has spent months locked up at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York City even as the list of Diddy accusers continues to grow. Despite his legal team’s multiple attempts to secure his release on bail, the court failed to grant the request, leaving the Bad Boy Records CEO languishing at MDC.
His legal team has taken a new approach this year, having given up on the quest to secure bail and withdrawing the last bail appeal last month. Attorneys for Diddy this week filed a lawsuit against the Southern District of New York, alleging the federal investigators posed as prison guards to raid his cell and unlawfully obtain “privileged” materials as evidence.
Diddy Claims Federal Investigators Raided His Cell For Evidence in Lawsuit
In the legal filing, Diddy’s legal team claimed the federal prosecutors pulled off the raid with the help of Bureau of Prison correctional officers inside MDC. To back the claims, the attorneys cited a meeting involving officials of the Bureau of Prison and the fed agents. This meeting, the lawsuit alleged, aimed to discuss a search of Diddy’s unit, which they deemed necessary. Other agencies allegedly inquired with the SDNY unit chief to determine if the search was warranted. On the directive of the Southern District of New York chief, they conducted the raid of Diddy’s prison cell.
The lawsuit claimed reports about Diddy’s conduct at the Metropolitan Detention Center prompted the Prosecution team to instigate the search with the SDNY chief’s approval. Diddy’s legal team considers this search of his cell and seizure of his belongings “illegal.” They accused the BOP and prosecutors of haunting for evidence and contraband during the search, contrary to the previous claims portraying the search as a pre-scheduled routine action not targeting Diddy. The filing claimed,
“It is clear the purpose was to gather evidence for the prosecution, not police any potential threats to (the jail’s) security.”
Diddy’s Team Refutes Claims of His Obstruction From Jail
Diddy’s attorney also claimed in the lawsuit that the rapper “never received so much as a write up” since his imprisonment despite the government’s reports of his alleged obstruction from jail and violation of policy. The filing alleged that an agent of the prosecution team posed as the investigator to raid Diddy’s cell, and has been spying on his defense team all along.
Sean Diddy Comb’s filing against the federal investigators comes on the heels of the upcoming Investigation Discovery docuseries titled The Fall of Diddy. The explosive documentary threatens to showcase new allegations against the rapper, who has been engulfed in legal woes in connection with his sex trafficking and abuse scandal, among other crimes. Although Diddy has since pleaded “not guilty” to all charges leveled against him amid the scandal, more victims have come forward since his incarceration, recounting their disturbing ordeals with him and hitting the disgraced businessman with hefty lawsuits.
