Lady Gaga is ready to retire from the partying lifestyle. During a new interview, the “Shallow” singer admitted she used to spend so much of her time drinking and smoking. However, her wild days are over. Now, she’s enjoying a quieter, domestic life with her fiancé, Michael Polansky. As the couple prepares to celebrate their sixth anniversary, Lady Gaga dished on whether the couple sees kids in their future.

It sounds like starting a family is Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky’s next step. The pop star discussed the topic while reflecting on being on the brink of turning 40. Although she’s spent the past two decades focused on her music career, the next stage of her life will be all about “me and Michael and our kids.” She knows that some fans will think she’s gotten “boring.” However, she doesn’t think that’s a bad thing.
“Honestly, thank God I’m boring. Thank God! Because I was living on the edge,” Lady Gaga told Elle. “I don’t know what was going to happen to me living that way.”
Lady Gaga explained that she once viewed drinking and smoking as “an out” for her. But she’s matured and learned how to be more “present” with life over the years. “I’m so grateful. Because I found a sense of happiness and joy that is true to me,” she said.
The singer and her fiancé couldn’t be more excited for their future. While they know the parenting life won’t be the same for them due to Lady Gaga’s fame, the couple is ready for the challenge.
For example, Lady Gaga says she knows her kids will probably have questions about her music career. Instead of “[telling] them how to think about me,” the star will let her children create their own opinions of her work. “I would want my children to understand that whatever my artistry means to them is totally up to them,” she said. “That’s something Michael and I have talked about a lot — allowing our kids to be their own people.”
It seems like Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky have things figured out and rightfully so since they’ve been together for nearly six years.
The pair first started dating in December 2019. After spending five years together, Polansky proposed to the singer in April 2024. Although they haven’t shared when they plan to have their wedding, it sounds like the couple is more than ready to settle down with all this talk about kids.
