Blake Lively‘s brother-in-law Bart Johnson does a complete 180 weeks after bashing Justin Baldoni in a series of posts. The High School Musical alum, married to the actress’s sister Robyn Lively, recently apologized for his words. Surprisingly, he did not direct his regret at the Jane The Virgin star but his disappointed fans.
Johnson shared his changed tune on X in a lengthy statement, claiming he was not one to criticize others. He did not seem regretful about defending his sister-in-law. Instead, he felt terrible about the way he did it. “Even in times where it might ‘feel’ justified and doing the right thing, it makes no difference. There’s a better way,” he penned, adding:
“It’s below the standard I have for myself, and I regret it. I do sincerely apologize to anyone I’ve hurt or let down by saying something that sounds mean. I’ll do better.”
Johnson defended himself as a good guy, claiming those who knew him would never catch him criticizing others. He reiterated that he was the type to encourage and uplift people while describing himself as “a work in progress.” He concluded his post with a vow to improve, signing off with his love for fans.

Johnson’s apology felt more like a note to fans for disappointing them with his harsh posts about Baldoni. Many X users echoed similar sentiments, bashing him for not apologizing to the victim of his heated words. “Strange, I think you forgot the part with the direct apology to Justin B? Is avoiding litigation your “jam,'” someone wondered.
“May your family’s careers rightfully go up in flames. Turns out you goblins don’t get to ruin a good man’s image without consequences. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes,” a critic slammed Johnson. A third shared the same view, stressing that he could not expect people to say, “ok, no worries.”
More fans called Johnson out for not being accountable, with an X user noting he was “mean, shady, and unnecessary.” Another advised him to do the right thing, writing, “Don’t apologize to us. Apologize to him. Notice how he didn’t retaliate amidst all the lies? Take notes.” The cries for a public apology continued with a fan tweeting:
“Say his name. I think you forgot to mention the person you are supposed to be apologizing to. His name is Justin Baldoni. Otherwise, your blanket apology is hollow.”

Last December, Johnson claimed the “public got played” by Baldoni’s “gross and disgusting but highly effective” antics. He argued the movie’s cast “unfollowed him for a reason” while supporting his sister-in-law’s allegations about the director. He also slammed Lively’s critics as trolls for labeling her “rude.”
“None of us have ever been wrong or mean. Never. We should discount decades of good for those few bad moments. Glad the microscope isn’t on me every day of my life,” Johnson noted about Lively’s haters. He first came to her defense last August when people wondered why she did not promote the movie with Baldoni. At the time, Johnson claimed, “The truth hasn’t come out yet. It’s going to.”
