“Test your love”

Just as we were all bemoaning frustrating news of Kombat Pack 3’s cancellation, NetherRealm Studios has dropped a sweet new addition to MK1 to changed our tune: there’s now a secret new boss fight. Months after Ed Boon teased us about a pink ninja named Floyd, the character really did show up in the game. But finding Floyd in Mortal Kombat 1 is one hell of a task, and according to fans, it’s harder than finding true love on Valentine’s Day.

User GohBilly1 has created a Valentine’s card that cleverly nods the hardship of finding Floyd in Mortal Kombat 1. The card reads, “The only thing harder than finding true love is finding Floyd,” honestly, he’s not even wrong here. You need to pass many of the 37 challenges in MK1 to find this mysterious ninja, some of which are not easy to accomplish.

I took that waterfall mechanic I made earlier and created a Floyd Valentine's card from it. "The only thing harder than finding true love… Is finding Floyd. Happy Valentine's Day! pic.twitter.com/Pug8zW2xMC

However, it’s ironic how you can play the game and randomly find Floyd with pure luck, like you may meet someone you fall in love with on a random occasion. Another interesting detail on this MK-style Valentine’s card is how the user has recreated the Floyd intro in 2D animation. He pulls the paper, and different ninjas spawn, ending up with Floyd. This is the exact animation we see in the Floyd intro in Mortal Kombat 1, and all the ninjas featured are set in the respective order shown in the game inside the card!

Including secret fights in the Mortal Kombat titles is a tradition that started with the first game in the series in 1992. But not all the MK games feature a secret fighter, and now we’ve had our first mysterious ninja in Mortal Kombat 1 year after release. Not to mention that even if you find the pink ninja, defeating him is a challenging mission as he harnesses the mixed powers of all ninjas in the MK series. But is it more challenging to find Floyd in Mortal Kombat 1 than to find true love on Valentine’s Day? May the Elder Gods help us.

Amir is an absolute Call of Duty nerd, preferring shooter games more than everything. However, he does like to do uppercuts in Mortal Kombat and feel the NOS going through the engines in Need For Speed games.
