Ubisoft Doubles Down On Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ March Release Date

No more delays

It’s been a rough year for Ubisoft, starting with Star Wars: Outlaws not meeting its sales expectations and Assassin’s Creed Shadows‘ delay from Fall 2024 release to 2025. However, our rendezvous with the Japanese assassins won’t be postponed this time as Ubisoft has confirmed the Assassin’s Creed Shadows‘ March release date… twice.

It’s always bad news when the developer is forced to delay its game, but if the time is needed for a polished release, it should be just fine. It’s always better to receive a fully checked game than one riddled with bugs and unwanted stutters, and in the case of Shadows, it seems like the product is “pretty much done”.

According to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, the developer working on Assassin’s Creed Shadows is confident about the March release date of the title. It seems like the game is in a solid state, and all is good to go with a month left for them to double-check and finalize the product.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows pre-orders are currently around 300,000 copies, which is considered a promising sign for the company. This number is the closest to the successful AC Odyssey, which had nearly 450,000 pre-orders. Not to mention that Shadows still has around four weeks left until release, meaning that it still has the chance to beat Odyssey in pre-orders.

Originally slated to release on November 15, 2024, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the successor to 2023’s AC Mirage. The game takes place in 16th-century Japan during the Sengoku period, but I’m actually waiting to see what the developers are doing with the modern-day narrative this time around. Now, I know that not everyone likes the modern tale, but Basim will set foot into the present day after everything he’s been through in AC Mirage and Valhalla, so what will his next step be? And will AC Shadows even feature a modern-day story? Only time will tell.
