Floyd Mayweather is ruffling feathers after hailing Donald Trump as the “best president” in American history. The legendary boxer is a longtime MAGA fan, supporting the convicted president during his first term in office. However, with Trump’s second term spreading overwhelming concern among citizens, Mayweather came to his defense.
The 15-time world champion appeared on Fox Business to sing the president’s praises. “We had Trump before, we didn’t appreciate him. I think Trump is a great president,” Mayweather began. “Actually, he’s the best president in my eyes. He’s the best president we’ve ever had.” Explaining what he liked about the Republican, the retired boxer called Trump a “great businessman.” Then, addressing the complaints of citizens, Mayweather said:
“Trump has done an amazing job and a lot of people around America are upset. But no matter who goes into the White House, we’re always upset. And I think Trump is the man for the job; he’s the best president in my eyes.”
Mayweather concluded that while the world might not be pleased with Trump, he is “happy.” The 48-year-old was on the show to promote his latest $400 million real estate investment in New York City. Real estate is a sector in which President Trump has vast experience and influence.

Mayweather’s remarks didn’t take long to make it to the internet, and fans, especially those of the Black community, reacted harshly. Leading the backlash was rapper 50 Cent, who has an ongoing feud with the retired boxer. Reposting the interview clip, the Candy Shop rapper slammed Mayweather on Instagram, writing:
“LOL 😆 YO you know how, when you’re in school and a kid eats the 🖍️ crayons. Now you see what happens when they grow up. 👀spell BEST PRESIDENT champ! LOL.”
Fans soon followed suit, mocking Mayweather’s IQ and reading skills. They hilariously referenced Trump’s 2016 declaration about loving the “poorly educated.”
“Definitely the uneducated Trump was talking about,” one fan slammed.
“The uneducated love Trump as much as he loves them,” a second harsh comment read.
“Trump did say he loves the uneducated. Pretty funny to see the most uneducated boxer of their era endorse him. Floyd probably didn’t pay taxes when Trump was in office,” a similar comment read.
“He can’t even read. Who would be listening to him?” questioned this user.
“Best president because you’re going to pay less in taxes when you’re rich, AFFF,” suggested a fifth fan.
While most of the Internet attacked Mayweather for his opinion, he had the support of none other than Elon Musk. Trump’s right-hand man reposted the clip, and the boxer seemed pleased with the approval.
