Michael Strahan has admitted to having a favorite family member! The Good Morning America anchor became a first-time grandfather after his oldest daughter Tanita welcomed a baby boy, Onyx, last December.
Since becoming a grandfather, the former football champion has shown that he is absolutely in awe of his little grandson. More recently, he playfully admitted to loving his boy a little more than his kids.
On Tuesday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Strahan gushed about how much he loves his grandson. When Fallon congratulated him, Strahan was all smiles as he talked about the new addition to his family. “Five months old baby boy named Onyx, and my daughter is doing great, baby is doing great,” the retired player raved before adding that he loves Onyx more than his kids.
“You know what? I love it! They sent me a picture earlier today, and I’m looking at him, and I’m like, ‘I love you so much,’ then I look at my kids and I say, ‘I love you.’”
The comparison left the audience in a fit of laughter, and then he blurted out, “There’s a little extra.” Strahan further shared insight into his relationship with his grandson, saying, “It’s a different relationship, and I cannot wait for him to grow up, to hang out and be that younger grandpa.”
Michael Strahan Has His Eyes Set On Being The Next James Bond
The media personality eagerly anticipates his grandson’s growth and has picked out the name he wants to be called. During an appearance on The View, co-host Ann Navarro asked about Onyx and what name the little boy would call his granddad. Strahan happily answered, “First of all, he is going to call me big Poppa.” The response sparked a rouse of laughter from the crowd, with Navarro admitting she liked the name.
While the former NFL star continues to shower his love for his grandson, a huge feat seems to have captured his attention. According to MensJournal, Strahan has expressed his interest in taking the legendary role of James Bond. Strahan made his interest known to Amazon’s CEO Andy Jassy shortly after MGM Studios acquired the rights to the popular “007” franchise.
During an interview with the CEO, Strahan asked who he thought should take the role of Bond, and in a playful twist, Jassy turned the question to him. Without hesitation, Strahan replied, “You’re looking at him.” The CEO acknowledged the TV host’s interest and readiness to take up the iconic role. Nothing is set in stone for Strahan’s possible future role, but fans already love the idea.
