Jenna Dewan showcases the shocking procedures involved in guaranteeing her safety during the filming of an intense scene on The Rookie in a hilarious BTS clip. With just 7 episodes left until the season 7 finale, The Rookie aired one of its most intense plots yet on the March 25 episode of the cop drama titled Speed. And what a race against speed it was! The episode (The Rookie season 7, Ep 11) had Bailey Nune (Jenna Dewan) swoop in and save the day by performing a nerve-wrecking maneuver, right before we discover the movie’s recurring villain, Monica Stevens, had her hands written all over the bus hijacking.
Jenna Dewan, who plays Bailey on The Rookie, took to Instagram to share a BTS look at how she managed to pull off the jump from an in-motion SWAT truck into the fast-moving bus in one piece. While still impressive, it turns out the actress did not face as many dangers as it appeared in the movie scene.
The Making of Jenna Dewan’s Bus Leap on The Rookie Unveiled in BTS Clip

Dewan’s clip began with her describing the stunt she was about to pull off in a highly filtered video selfie, fully clad in her firefighter gear. The video then cuts to the star standing in front of her trailer in black shorts and high-knee socks, notably missing her pants as a co-actress helped her fit into a custom belt amid giggles.
Jenna Dewan gave The Rookie fans a quick tour of the movie set in her BTS clip, showcasing the black SWAT truck and the bus needed for that scene parked next to each other. Next, the crew safely strapped the star onto the side of the black truck, securing the straps onto her custom belt. After ensuring everything was in place, the crew opened the bus right next to Dewan, who threw her orange bag in first, before making the leap.
A mole fan controlled by a crew member gave the wind-blown effect observed in the final shot to make the stunt more realistic, while the moving drone above gave the impression that the vehicles were in high-speed motion. The result, which made the cut on The Rookie season 7, episode 11, had fans blown away.
Dewan’s BTS Clip Wows the Internet
Via comments, many commended the mom of three for being real and sharing the most engaging BTS clip ever. Impressed fans also urged Jenna Dewan to keep sharing more BTS looks from The Rookie, as they were all for it. One fan quipped,
“Please do more of these! This was so fun to watch!”
Another praised,
“Love the behind-the-scenes! Keep posting stuff like this!”
A third commenter gushed,
“This stunt was absolutely awesome.”
Fans also praised The Rookie episode titled Speed, which aired on Tuesday, March 25.
What Happened on The Rookie Season 7 Episode 11?
The episode, a nod to the actual Speed movie, began with the hijacking of a city bus by a fiery group armed with bombs, in a bid to secure a bogus ransom. However, the episode had a shocking plot twist about halfway through when one of the hijackers got shot, forcing his brother to make a deal with the LAPD to transport him to a hospital in exchange for 20 passengers/hostages. Officials soon linked one of the passengers who disembarked, a pregnant woman named Cassie, to an earlier, near-fatal incident which Angel and Nyla narrowly escaped.
The pregnant woman, whose real name was then unveiled as Denise Summers, slithered off before anyone figured it out. Hidden away in a parked car, Cassie scanned an ID card she obtained earlier from a fellow passenger, uploading it to a phone. At this point, it becomes clear the bus hijacking was never about the mega ransom, but about the swiped government ID card. With her mission completed, she dialed the person she worked for to report her status, and the person on the receiving end was none other than Monica Stevens, ultimately confirming the return of the recurring villainous lawyer, to viewers’ chagrin. That’s one plot twist no one saw coming!
New episodes of The Rookie air Tuesdays, 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
