Graduation is supposed to be one of the highlights of your life, and pictures are one way to remember such a moment. You might be unlucky, like this Washington college student whose graduation picture was ruined by a studio. After being ready to take the pictures, the photographer from the studio refused to accept them. A back-and-forth started between the Washington college student and the photographer. People in the comments started taking sides, with some claiming that both were at fault.
The video shows the college student placing a phone to record while she goes and sits down to get her pictures taken. She uses her phone to check how she looks, according to her, and the photographer doesn’t like that. She says, “Guys c’mon I’m not gonna do it.” The student then says that she was fixing her hair, to which the photographer replies by saying that she can’t let her take pictures on the backdrop.
The student then asked if the photographer had a mirror, who suggested that she should have fixed her hair in the bathroom. This back-and-forth concludes with the photographer refusing to take the pictures. The video ends with the student saying it was a good thing that she was recording.
Along with posting this video, the Washington college student added some context. She wrote in the caption:
“I usually only post positive moments, but last week, I left my graduation photoshoot in tears. Graduation is a milestone, and we ALL deserve to celebrate it properly. From the start, the photographer was rude—yelling at students and creating a hostile, disorganized environment.”
After explaining that the photographer was rude to others, the Washington college student said that she refused to take her pictures because she used her phone. She states that she paid for this photoshoot, only to leave without getting her pictures taken. She then names the studio Legacy Studio and warns people from booking with them.
People Reacting to the Video
People had different reactions to the video, as some saw that both the student and the photographer were in the wrong. One wrote, “Mind you y’all are grown adults.” Another person said, “Both of y’all came off real strong right off the bat.” Some people came after the photographer. “she’s acting like that backdrop was imported from Dubai or something. Relax,” one woman wrote. Another asked in disbelief, “u can’t be on ur phone at a photoshoot u paid for?!?!??” Despite the Washington college student posting a video asking people not to come after the photographer, people still did that as one wrote, “Ask to see her degree! It’s giving bitter.”
Not all comments took the student’s side as some blamed her and saw that the photographer acted right. “You waited until you were in the seat to fix your hair?” one person asked. Another one wrote, “Honestly you had the attitude for no reason.” One even claimed that the college student was lying and that she was, in fact, taking pictures. “It definitely looked like you were taking selfies though because your boyfriend leaned in with you,” they wrote.
Regardless, there’s nothing wrong with taking pictures or checking one’s hair at a photo studio. She said that another person took 10 minutes to get their pictures taken, so it wouldn’t have been difficult for the photographer to wait for 10 seconds. The situation could have easily been avoided if some patience was involved.
