Easter is often celebrated by young children with chocolate eggs and tales of the Easter bunny. It’s a sweet tradition, and why not document the occasion with photos? But what if your children are teenagers and you’re a celebrity with a platform that reaches millions, and you decide to post pictures of them participating in an Easter egg hunt? Mortifying, right? Well, this is what happened when Mariah Carey decided to share photos of her twins, Monroe and Moroccan Cannon, on Instagram.
The “We Belong Together” songstress shares her children with her ex-husband, Nick Cannon, and has openly embraced motherhood, frequently discussing the profound impact her children have had on her life. But when she decided to post photos from their time together on Instagram for her 14.1 million fans to see, Monroe and Moroccan were not impressed.
Mariah Carey Embarrasses Her Kids With Easter Bunny Photos
The photos Carey posted included one of Monroe and Moroccan standing holding baskets for collecting Easter eggs. Also posing in the pictures is a white rabbit. In another photo, they can be seen with their chocolate spoils. Carey was clearly enjoying the experience, evident by the image of her embracing the bunny.
She captioned the post with a message about her kids. “The greatest gift of being a mom is getting your teenage kids to participate in your Easter hijinks!” she wrote. The post has attracted a lot of attention from fans, but her twins have also reacted.
“OMG DELETE IT,” 13-year-old Monroe commented. Her post has been liked thousands of times, and fans have responded to her message with their thoughts. The comments have been incredibly kind, telling her she looks “beautiful” and that she and her brother are “awesome.”
Moroccan also reacted with a message of his own, writing, “Why do you do this to me mom.” He included a crying face emoji to really drive home his point. Hilarious, we know!
Adults are more impressed with Carey’s post, and reactions include, “Not a regular mom, she’s a COOL mom,” “Roc & Roes comments are cracking me up!” and “the kids are all grown up and Mariah the queen she is!!!”
Carey may be many things, and sure, her kids aren’t pleased that she posted a photo of them that they find cringeworthy, but she is a dedicated mother, and she’s big on holidays and creating memories. We could all take a page out of her book when it comes to effort, and she cannot be faulted for this! But maybe next year she should keep the cute pictures of her teens off social media to save them the stress?
