Sold-Out Musical About NYC CEO Killer Luigi Mangione Will Feature ‘Friendship’ With Fellow Inmate Diddy: ‘A Sick Joke’

This is too far

In a shocking twist of theatrical portrayal, Luigi Mangione is set to be the subject of a new musical. The stage production titled Luigi: The Musical will make its debut next month, and fans can’t stop talking about it.

Mangione is accused of killing the late United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024. He was arraigned and is now facing state and federal charges of stalking, murder, and terrorism. However, the gravity of his alleged crime didn’t stop him from becoming an overnight sensation.

Taylor Street Theater in San Francisco is behind the highly controversial play inspired by Mangione’s plight. The musical will also feature characters based on his fellow famous inmates. The suspect is currently being held in the Metropolitan Detention Center. It is where Sean Diddy Combs and Sam Bankman-Fried are also held.

The producers of Luigi: The Musical are apparently taking a page from the life of famed Beulah Annan’s book. Annan was accused of murder in the early 90s. A fictional character based on her inspired the Broadway classic Chicago. Explaining that Luigi: The Musical is more of a reimagining than a true story about Mangione’s life, a rep told People Magazine:

“A wildly irreverent, razor-sharp comedy that imagines the true story of Luigi Mangione, the alleged corporate assassin turned accidental folk hero.”

The musical will focus on how Mangione “navigates friendship,” perhaps with Diddy. It will also touch Mangione;s “justice and the absurdity of viral fame with his real-life cellmates by his side.”

Sources report that Mangione’s presence in prison took away attention from Diddy, who faces several sex trafficking charges.

“Diddy has been throwing tantrums over the fact that Luigi is getting all of the attention in prison and is being revered as a hero after literally murdering someone on camera,” a source reported.

It is unclear how the play will tackle the rumored tense relationship between Diddy and Mangione. However, it will be interesting to watch out for.

Luigi: The Musical is set to be released on June 13, and the entire run is already sold out.  After the news broke on the internet, several social media users reacted. One remarked, “This is literally jaw-dropping, it sounds like a sick joke,” and another wrote, “What kind of person pays money to see this kind of trash (referring to Luigi)?”

Other users called the producers out for being insensitive. “This kid killed someone in broad daylight and now has his own sold-out theatrical debut?… He left the kids without their dad… THIS IS INSANE,” one individual lamented.

Notably, Mangione pleaded not guilty to his charges. The tentative date for his trial has been set for December 2025.
