Since his return to his late-night show, comedian Jimmy Kimmel has spared no quarter against his White House rival, Donald Trump. After all, the President was reportedly the primary reason why the show was temporarily suspended in the first place, even though he ended up unintentionally giving the show millions of viewers. One of Kimmel’s latest shots at the White House is directed at Trump henchman Pete Hegseth’s comments fat-shaming US military service members.
The Republican Defense Secretary said that “itโs tiring to look out at combat formations, or really any formation, and see fat troops,” per The Hill. He continued, ripping into generals, admirals, and other military leaders for being obese. The US military already enforces rather strict standards on its members, not to mention the upcoming changes to raise the Army’s new fitness standards. However, Jimmy Kimmel was quick to point out that the actual mastermind behind Hegseth’s speech, Donald Trump, falls short when compared to these standards of body weight.
“I love the idea that Trump is lecturing these guys on fitness. Listen up, generals, the Pillsbury Dough President wants you to do pilates. If you get so fat you start breaking escalators, you are unfit to serve in the military,” Kimmel sarcastically remarks on air.
As a refresher, the President and many of his lackeys were in shock when the escalator at the UN malfunctioned when he stepped on with his wife, Melania. Some MAGA loyalists were so outraged that they called for the bombing of the UN and harm to its staff. Of course, it’s such a minor inconvenience to be upset over, yet the President made it loud and clear he believed it was intentional. That aside, it doesn’t change the fact that the US President is allegedly well over 200 pounds at 6’3″, which makes him overweight and nearly obese, according to the BMI calculator.
Jimmy Kimmel isn’t the only one who believes that Trump is hypocritical in calling out military service members for being fat when he himself has a weight problem. “Heโs built like humpty dumpty,” remarks a Redditor. Another added how Trump is similar to heavyset “dudes with sunglasses in their Facebook avatars” who complain about female celebrities needing to lose weight. “You can’t go around criticizing the health of others when you’re even less healthy,” they comment.
Hundreds of others point out that Jimmy Kimmel was the ‘perfect target’ for the Trump administration. “It’s woke a loooot of people up and made them realise they have a lot more skin in the game than they realised,” says one user. Many others add that the late-night show host is showing quite a brave hand at criticizing the President, especially with how unhinged and even violent ‘MAGA cultists’ can be these days. Truly, Kimmel provides a timely reminder that the US is still a free-speech country, even when an oppressive regime tries to pretend otherwise.
