Jimmy Kimmel Live! is back on the air, despite the Trump administration’s attempt to shut it down. And while the President makes senseless threats to sue Disney and ABC’s decision, the late-night show comedian had a few choice words for the bamboozled politician in the White House:
“He tried his best to cancel me. Instead, he forced millions of people to watch the show. That backfired bigly. He might have to release the Epstein files to distract us from this now.”
Putting the focus back on the Epstein files was a clever move on Kimmel’s part, given that millions have been demanding nonstop for everything to be released. As much as he’s tried to dismiss the files, President Trump won’t escape accountability until he gives the American people what they want. And it’s not just the US that’s waiting; protestors in the UK also showed their support by projecting photos of Epstein and Trump onto Windsor Castle before the meetup with King Charles and Prince William.
Jimmy Kimmel Addresses His Comment That Triggered His Temporary Suspension
Besides the clever jab at Trump, Kimmel also came forward about his comment regarding MAGA capitalizing on Charlie Kirk’s death. The TV show host said it was never his intention to make light of the decision, nor blame any particular activist group for the murder. Of course, many online users criticized this seemingly apologetic statement, calling out Kimmel for now not having a backbone on the matter. But one Reddit user pointed out that it’s not about giving anyone sympathy or empathy. But rather, “it’s about not cheering on politically motivated violence and gun violence, especially with how divided we are as [a] country right now.”
With Kimmel back on TV, there’s a bit of hope that the freedom many Americans have come to know and love over the decades could return. With so much violence, hatred, and division across the US, ABC giving Jimmy Kimmel his job back is good news for everyone, regardless of what side you’re on. The main point is that people can be canceled, but it’s never the government that should be doing the canceling.
But that aside, Kimmel is still poking fun at the Trump administration with recent events, like the escalator hiccup at the UN or the wild accusations that Tylenol can cause autism. The boycott and backlash have worked, and things are back to normal, at least for Jimmy Kimmel Live! Unfortunately, undoing the blatant bigotry and racism that ICE and the White House’s executive orders have created is not as easily resolved with a simple unsubbing from Plus. However, hopefully, Kimmel’s return marks the beginning of us slightly heading in a better direction.
