While millions of average citizens are shouting from the rooftops for the Epstein files to be released, some celebrities are putting out their political opinions as well, with singer Hayley Williams being among the latest. Paramore’s lead vocalist unashamedly took to Instagram to post in all-caps: “THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES IS A SEXUAL PREDATOR.” This direct jab at Donald Trump comes a little before the release of her latest hit song, “Good Ol’ Days.”
This isn’t the first time the “Sudden Desire” artist has spoken out against the Republican leader. Back in September of last year, she criticized Donald Trump for “controlling and punishing women, poor people, people of color & the LGBTQ+ community” and asked her fans if they want to live in a dictatorship. While her plea for people not to vote for Trump didn’t fall on deaf ears, unfortunately, her statement did come to pass, as many do compare the current MAGA takeover of the White House to a dictatorship. That said, the title of her new song, “Good Ol’ Days,” does hit different, now that so much has come to pass over the past year.
Plenty of fans are singing praises for Hayley Williams’ new songs, but just as many are also encouraged to see that she’s still calling out the now current President Trump. “My white woman of the month, every month,” remarks a Reddit commenter. “She is right and she should say it. Hayley is a queen who is always on the right side of history!” exclaims another fan. “The people’s princess, Hayley Williams,” added a third. Many, like “Miss Paramore,” are saying Trump is unfit for office because of his past, but critics would also argue that his current behavior is more than questionable.
Hours before Williams made the Instagram post, Donald Trump publicly stated during a White House conference that he wants to “kill people that are bringing drugs into our country.” At this point, such an extremist remark shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, supporter or not. Yet, many people find it a wonder that he’s still holding strong to his presidency, with more than enough citizens and those in power to support him. Still, Paramore fans find hope in seeing their favorite artist and other celebrities take a stand against the current regime, even if it is just social media posts.
But regardless of whether Hayley Williams makes political statements, there’s no doubt that her music is reaching the hearts of plenty of Americans and others around the globe.
