If you’re ever shopping at Goodwill, make sure you never leave your belongings unattended. A woman in Florida learned that the hard way and almost lost her shoes for good.
She was at a Goodwill store trying on a pair of shoes, so naturally, she left her own pair behind while testing out the new ones. Unfortunately for her, someone must have thought her shoes were part of the store’s inventory and tried to buy them. Because of the mix-up, she ended up walking barefoot around the store while waiting to speak with an employee.
When two employees finally came over, she asked if they’d seen her shoes. That’s when one of them dropped the shocking news, they had thrown them in the trash.
It was a little strange that the Florida Goodwill employees decided to throw the shoes away so quickly. They told the woman that someone had left a pair of sandals behind, so they tossed them out. One of the employees, a blonde woman, came across as rude and impatient, which made her seem a bit suspicious. Why was she so irritated that the customer was just trying to find her shoes?
The blonde employee eventually led the woman to the trash can where the shoes had been thrown out. Oddly enough, she had placed them inside a bag. She claimed she did that because she thought someone had left them behind and taken another pair. Still, it’s hard to understand why she’d need to bag them up if that were the case.
It almost seemed like the employee had put the shoes in a bag to keep them clean or safe even though they were in the trash. When she handed them back, she said a curt “Okay” and added, “When you leave them like that, something’s going to happen to them.”
Through it all, the Florida woman stayed calm and polite. She never blamed the employees and even took responsibility for the situation. “Completely my fault by the way, I know I’m ridiculous and everything about this video is unhygienic. Sorry to the Goodwill employees,” she wrote in the caption.
At least she got her shoes back in the end.
People Reacting to the Florida Woman’s Video
After seeing the Florida woman’s video, a lot of people believed that the employee wanted the shoes for herself. This is why one person wrote, “theyre birks? She 1000% wanted them.” Another person tried to defend the employee and said, “I rly dont think so since it was in the trash hahahahaha, actually they were prob annoyed thinking someone swapped their old shoes for on sale ones, bc that happens very often there lmao.” Not everyone believed that the employee was innocent, which made someone reply asking, “if she didn’t want them why would she bag them before putting them in the trash?” More comments claimed the same thing as one woman added, “Oh she FOR SURE was trying to take those home at the end of her shift.”
Many people pointed out that the Florida employee’s behavior seemed off. “That lady was unnecessarily rude loool,” one person wrote. The woman replied, “That’s kinda what I thought…”
Others agreed that the employee was acting strangely. “This is weird. How did she come to the conclusion to put them in a bag and throw them away instead of putting them on the shelf?” one commenter asked. Another added, “The employees are acting so weird. I feel like she threw them out in a plastic bag so she could go back and get them later. Why would they throw them away when it’s literally a thrift store?”
After reading the comments, the woman started to agree. “Honestly, now that I’m looking back at it, it is sus. They definitely didn’t follow protocol,” she wrote. Hopefully, the employees weren’t actually planning to take the shoes for themselves.
