It’s long been known that teachers in the United States of America are not being supported as a whole. Unfortunately, this spills over into how students behave, leading to situations that could have been avoided otherwise. One Houston, Texas, teacher was shocked to discover one of his students passing a note with a racist remark to another student. When he confronted that student, instead of receiving some kind of apology, he got a whole bunch of excuses for the behavior.

you can’t make this stuff America. The things I deal with as a teacher 😂 #teachersoftiktok #teacherlife #teachertok #fyp

♬ original sound – Mr. J

The above video was posted to the TikTok account @artnyethescienceguy. This account belongs to a teacher who goes by Mr. J in the Houston area. He is a science teacher, and content typically consists of his daily life as a teacher and what he experiences in his position. He is also so well-known that he occasionally posts sponsored content, such as having met the cast of Hulu’s show Washington Black.

In this particular video, he can be seen sitting at his desk, with the camera facing him, as a student argues with him about which parent should be called. Mr.J then reveals exactly why the student’s parents needed to be called in the first place. The student had written a racist note to one of their classmates. It was fortunately discovered by Mr. J, who promptly took action.

Houston Student Avoids Accountability for Racist Note

He asks the student to step outside so they can have a quick discussion about the incident. To avoid compromising the student’s identity, Mr. J changes the pitch of the video. However, you can clearly hear the student not taking accountability for their actions. Commentators flooded the replies, showing admiration for Mr. J’s patience. One of the most popular comments specifically said, “all this age group do is deflect 😭 id never have the patience for this.”

Other comments also showed annoyance with the student in question’s attitude throughout the conversation. Many other popular comments were simply quotes the student had said with an accompanying meme of some kind. Just before the video ends, Mr. J informs viewers that the student who wrote the racist note was also black. He then gives a little more context on what led up to the note being passed.

The student in question was allegedly bothering another person to the point of annoyance. In response to being constantly ignored, the student decided to write the racist note, but was caught. At the end, Mr. J still decided to call the student’s parents, hoping to instill a lesson in him. As a personal fan of his videos, I find his teaching style admirable, and this video proves no different.
