When you’re eating out, there are rare occasions when you may leave your food order unattended at the table. Maybe you need to go the restroom or maybe you need to make an urgent phone call. Thing is, when you return, you expect your food to be untampered with and left on the table, untouched. That wasn’t the case for a group of girls in Las Vegas, Nevada recently, who returned to their table to find a hungry couple eating their $40 lunch. The incident was captured on camera, and the footage is sparking discussion online.

Girls dinner from Lolo’s Chicken & Waffles was stolen by these two people, they decided to just let them have our food…

The video is taken from the perspective of the girls who left their meal on the table, and it takes place at Lolo’s Chicken and Waffles in Downtown Las Vegas. The footage is accompanied by the caption, “pov: you got your $40 meal took on freemont street [sic]” and begins the moment the girls return to their table to discover two individuals — an elderly man in a white polo shirt and blue cap, and a woman sporting a blue floral dress — who are stood next to their meal. They appear to have begun eating some of the girls’ lunch on the table, as the food containers are open, and they both appear a little embarrassed at being caught red-handed.

Straightaway, the young girl can be heard exclaiming angrily, “That’s our food!” and the elderly man awkwardly replies, “I’ll pay for that.” The girl recording states, “Come on, man. Like, you already ate two chicken wings.” It’s worth noting that the man is holding a half-eaten chicken wing in his left hand, corroborating the girls’ accusations. Sheepishly, the man responds, “I’ll do it. I’ll pay for these. She hasn’t touched anything.” pointing to the woman in a blue dress next to him, who appears to be his hungry partner in crime.

“No. But y’all have already put your hands on it. Therefore, all of this is invalid. So y’all owe us one, two, three, four plates.” fires one of the girls, who’s furious to see her food being eaten by strangers. However, the lady in a blue dress insists that she didn’t touch the meal, though she does put her hands on the bag and the container while she’s saying this to attempt to show some proof. “But y’all opened it already.” exclaims the frustrated patron.

The hungry couple’s story takes a bizarre turn, as the woman in blue claims that they were just attempting to protect the girls’ meal because “someone tried to steal it“. However, it’s at this point where the girls’ frustration gives way to compassion, and they offer them their $40 meal for free. “You can have it! Ya’ll can have it. It’s okay. I promise, it’s yours.” one of the girls says with a smile. The elderly man is taken aback by this thoughtful gesture, and under his breath utters, “God bless you.”

With the heartwarming video circulating online right now, social media championed the kindness of the girls at the heart of the drama. One netizen wrote, “That was nice of them. Lol. But yeah, wtf” while another chimed in with, “Nice of them. But $40 of food? Hell naw bro pay up in cash right now or I’m calling the cops.” Others, meanwhile, found their reason for stealing the food amusing, with one person, penning, “LOL some guy in a wheelchair came and stole it and my pikachu and we just rescued all this food! The wings are really good BTW. God bless you.”

Thankfully, the ravenous couple walked away with a free meal, and the girls can at least feel good knowing they helped out two hungry people in need. In the end, everyone’s happy. Except, of course, the girls’ wallets.
