While you would think that it would always be easy to recognize your dog, you might find yourself face-to-face with an almost identical one. This is what happened to a Texas man who was surprised when he took the wrong dog home from day care. He only realized that he had done that after an hour had already passed. So it wasn’t exactly clear from the first glance that the dog he took home was a different one. He shared a Ring video of the dog he brought into the apartment, standing in front of it. The dog didn’t help because it acted like this house was always its. It even took one of the original dog’s toys and kept playing with it.
At this point, the Texas man was slowly realizing that something was wrong. He noticed that the dog in front of him looked a little skinny and darker than his dog. He also noted that the dog was sniffing each room as if it were seeing them for the first time. More differences began to come to the owner’s mind, such as how his dog’s collar was placed before he took it to day care. Or the way that the dog was sitting, which was different than usual. Finally, after looking at the dog’s genitals, he realized that this was definitely not his dog.
At least he found a funny side to the situation, telling the dog he wanted to keep it. He even gave it a treat. What he did next was to call a woman he knew, and she immediately recognized that it wasn’t the same dog. So it didn’t take her an hour, like it did him. By the end of the video, the owner showed a picture of the imposter and his actual dog. In all honesty, at first glance, they do look the same. So I can’t really blame the owner or the employees at the day care.

Not everyone joked about the Texas dad’s mistake since some thought that it was weird that he didn’t recognize his own dog. “How do people not recognize their own dog….,” one person wrote. This made another person reply, “I was thinking the same thing… until I seen the pictures at the end hahah they are literally identical.” Others agreed that the pictures of the two dogs explained why the owner didn’t recognize them. “Tbh after seeing both dogs, I agree they look the same lol,” someone wrote. Not everyone would be able to tell the difference. What matters is that the owner realized what happened at the end and got his dog back.
