Sniffing became a nasty and disturbing act within seconds after a man in Miami, Florida, was caught on camera at a dance studio smelling a couch immediately after a female student stood up from it. In the unsettling video posted on X, formerly Twitter, the female student is seen sitting on a couch decorated with several pillows. Her face and most of her body were blurred for privacy.
A few seconds into the clip, she stood up and walked away. Almost immediately, a man entered the room, appearing to be on a phone call. He quickly walked to the spot she had just left, bent down to sniff the couch, and then walked out. The comments section erupted as viewers expressed disgust and concern over his behavior. “Just the beginning of what he is capable of…” someone wrote emphatically. Another user added in anger, “wtf is wrong with people. That’s disgusting on so many levels.”
One person noted where they believed he should be, writing, “He needs to be put underneath the jail.” Another comment read, “Guy is an animal. If he hasn’t harmed a child he will.” This user remarked, “The more I learn about people, and their sicknesses, the less I care about our species’ survival.” A furious commenter tied the incident to concerns about women’s safety, adding:
“And then all this dude has to do is put on a dress and has access to women’s/girls’ locker rooms. This is a great example of why we can never allow any man into women’s spaces! This guy needs to be locked up, because guaranteed this behavior will increase.”
Another user wrote, “I sometimes forget just how little action the average man gets. In their eternal ‘drought’, they just become more and more perverse.” However, not everyone joined the outrage. Some defended the man, while still acknowledging the behavior was strange. “Yes, it’s sick. Yes, it’s bizarre. But how is sniffing a seat illegal? I’m not condoning it, but I don’t see the logic in bringing police into it. Just ban the guy and drive on,” someone argued.
Another questioned his actual offence: “Weird, yes, but wtf are they really gonna charge him for lmao.” One user added humor with a pointed question that read,
“That looks creepy, but I don’t think it’s illegal. What are you going to lock up people for now? Someone farted, and you get arrested for sniffing it?”
