The Old Peace Update is Putting the ‘War’ in Warframe & It’s Coming Earlier Than You Think

In the grim darkness of the far past, there is only War… frame

Warframe is undoubtedly heading into darker narrative territory, but this time around, Digital Extremes is pushing the envelope further by forcing your child soldier character to relive their war trauma and making them commit war crimes once more. That’s what awaits players in The Old Peace update for Warframe. Speaking of waiting, Warframe: The Old Peace is set to release on December 10, 2025.

That’s right, you don’t exactly have to wait further toward the end of the year for The Old Peace. Along with The Old Peace, the update comes bundled with The Devil’s Triad, which will somehow tie into the story and introduce the much-awaited Protoframes for Harrow and Wisp and the new Warframe.

With that said, the meatier part of the update is The Old Peace, which takes place in the player’s memories of Tau. The new gameplay features will tie in with the war trauma incurred by the Tenno or Operator during their stint as the Orokin’s attack dogs. There, players will be able to explore this relatively fresh facet of the Warframe mythos through the Operator’s recollection of The Perita Rebellion, which is accessible through the Sanctum Anatomica.

The Perita Rebellion will let you relive three huge battles, lasting 12 minutes each, where players must complete various new objectives. The kicker is that some of these objectives involve “Trauma Materializing,” where players must re-commit and re-live as many acts of war and brutality as they can to invoke suppressed memories in their Operator. Hence, it’s definitely a lot more serious and grim compared to older content.

An Overhaul of Old Features

Speaking of older content, it’s worth noting that the three battles or missions in The Perita Rebellion mode will culminate in an Eidolon-like boss fight. Additionally, the Archwing is utilized once more in these fights. Meanwhile, the other mode, alongside The Perita Rebellion, is called The Descendia; it’s a more straightforward delve-type gauntlet content where players can try to clear as many floors or stages as they can in a series of multi-tiered missions.

Of course, the most notable overhaul for old content brought about by The Old Peace would be the Focus system rework. In the past, Digital Extremes has given us a peek at the new special attack for each Focus school; Naramon notably manifests as a giant energy blade. Devstream 191 has revealed the special attacks for the other focus schools:

Along with these special attacks, the whole Focus school has been reworked once more to make room for the changes in a smoother acquisition. Apart from those, the new mod system, Operator remaster, new syndicate (Devil’s Triad), and a 1-hour quest, which, for the first time ever, is now skippable, all await Warframe players come December 10.
