Shameless actor William H. Macy, 75, has a strict policy with his wife, Felicity Huffman, 63. Speaking with Us Weekly, Macy said “There’s no secrets” between him and Huffman, implying that the two have been very transparent with each other over their nearly three decades of being married. The Fargo star praised his wife for being a “fabulous human being” and a “magnificent actor.”
While it’s undoubtedly nice to see Macy still loyal to his wife after so many years, many have not forgotten about the controversy that Felicity Huffman caused with her big scandal back in 2019. That said, there might be “no secrets” between the two, as Macy said, “Except when one of you gets in legal trouble for bribing admissions offices, then it’s important that you both understand that one of you acting in complete secrecy from the other,” remarked a Redditor. As a refresher, the Desperate Housewives actress had been found guilty of paying a bribe of $15,000 for her daughter to pass her college exams.
Felicity Huffman did end up paying for her crime with prison time, community service, and a hefty fee, yet the scar on her reputation still remains to this day. And her husband, William H. Macy, isn’t exactly clear of controversies either. On top of allegedly being aware of his wife’s fraud years ago, Macy was also sued by his neighbor for destroying their trees, aka their property. According to People, the $600,000 lawsuit has since been settled, but the fact that the Shameless star did a “shameless” act still follows him.
Both Macy and Huffman Are Guilty of Committing Fraud, Online Users Say
“The couple that commits fraud together stays together. 💕,” mocks an online commenter. Other users brought up the question of why Huffman got in trouble for the Varsity Blues scandal involving the college bribery but not him. One person noted that it was because he did his best to stay out of her emails and interactions with the college staff, despite being “fully aware and complicit in everything.” Yet, the court didn’t accuse him of anything at the time, so it’s safe to say he escaped any arrests or charges by the skin of his teeth.
That all being said, many online users find it quite ironic that William H. Macy is one to bring up his marriage, not containing any secrets, as that would strongly imply Huffman’s crime in 2019 was “no secret” to him. Whatever the case, both have stayed out of trouble for the most part, with Macy claiming that he has high hopes for 2026, claiming that he is “feeling very bullish about it.” Hopefully, that refers to positive developments about him and his family, not to more complicit scheming between him and his wife.
