It’s no secret that Nicki Minaj has sparked the ire of her fans for openly supporting Team MAGA and far-right President Donald Trump and friends, such as the late Charlie Kirk. She even appeared as a speaker to chat with Erika Kirk at the end of last year, and needless to say, plenty of fans were not happy with her political stance. Her fanbase bled out millions upon millions of fans, and the backlash was so bad that she allegedly deleted her Instagram account. One PR expert speaking to The Mirror believes that this outcome was all “predictable.”
“From a PR standpoint, what we’re seeing with Nicki Minaj is not a career-ending scandal but a predictable collision between celebrity, politics, and modern fan culture,” PR expert Chad Teixeira claims. “When her political stance contradicts what some fans believed she stood for, it feels personal, almost like a betrayal.”
As Teixeira puts it, fans of particular artists don’t just listen to their music but also value whatever said celebrity represents. For Minaj, she definitely portrayed the ‘strong independent woman’ type whose music and representation many fans adored and respected. But now that she’s greatly damaged her fanbase with this “emotional fracture” of sorts, Teixeira believes she can only wait things out by controlling the narrative and showing herself to be “self-governing and unbothered” by the controversy.
This Is a Controversy Nicki Minaj Might Never Recover From

Teixeira is correct in that waiting out a controversy often works for things more personally related to a celebrity. But it’s hard to imagine that Nicki Minaj’s career will ever reach the point it did after losing 10 million followers, only to delete her Instagram account afterward. Not to mention, supporting an extremist leader who is reportedly hurting the economy and morale on a nationwide scale isn’t something many can simply forget.
Thousands of Redditors feel the same; as one top commenter put it: “Chasing MAGA dollars never works out long term.” Another user pointed out how she’s been “openly MAGA for years,” as well as publicly homophobic, biphobic, and transphobic. “I truly can’t imagine anything would dent whatever remains of her fanbase at this point,” they concluded, referring to her fans from Team MAGA. Granted, she will always have a following now that she’s earned the respect of the far right, but the ones who actually supported her until now might never see her the same again.
Even now, many are clamoring for Minaj to be deported, considering how she immigrated to the US at a young age. Like Snoop Dogg and other celebrities who were quick to jump on the MAGA bandwagon, these iconic artists have lost the hearts of millions and will have to perform a miracle if they want to rebuild their reputations.
