Freddie Mercury’s ‘Secret’ Daughter Bibi Dies at 48 After Spinal Cancer Battle: ‘B Is Now With Her Beloved Father’

Freddie Mercury’s secret daughter, Bibi, has tragically passed away at 48 after a prolonged battle with a rare spinal cancer. Her death comes just months after her existence was revealed in the Queen singer’s bombshell biography, Love, Freddie. Bibi leaves behind her husband and two young sons, her family saying she is now reunited with her father.

Bibi was the daughter of Freddie Mercury, born during a secret affair in 1976. The Queen frontman affectionately called her “Bibi,” his “trésor” (treasure), and his “little froggie,” and wrote songs about her, including Bijou and Don’t Try So Hard. She maintained a close bond with her father until his death in 1991.

Per Daily Mail, author Lesley-Ann Jones, who revealed Bibi’s story in her biography, said: “I am devastated by the loss of this woman who became my close friend, who had come to me with a selfless aim: to brush aside all those who have had free rein with Freddie’s story for 32 years, to challenge their lies and their rewriting of his life, and to deliver the truth.”

The family disclosed she fought chordoma, a rare spinal cancer, for years, even relocating to access the best treatments. Bibi’s husband, Thomas, shared:

“B is now with her beloved and loving father in the world of thoughts. Her ashes were scattered to the wind over the Alps.”

Lesley-Ann Jones added, “At the end of her life, it was all that mattered to her. She was very ill throughout the 4 years that we worked together. But she was on a mission. She put herself and her own needs last.”

Bibi had long kept her identity private to protect her career as a doctor and her patients. She had approached Jones after reading her 2021 book Love of My Life, seeking to set the record straight about her father. “I didn’t want to share my Dad with the whole world,” Bibi said. “After his death, I had to learn to live with the attacks against him, the misrepresentations of him, and with the feeling that my Dad now belonged to everyone.”
