As Blake Lively’s courtroom fight with Justin Baldoni heats up, Ryan Reynolds has found himself squarely in the blast zone. Newly unsealed messages reveal the actor’s unfiltered defense of his wife, fueling public backlash, industry debate, and renewed scrutiny over what really happened behind the scenes of It Ends With Us.
Ryan Reynolds Defends Blake Lively as Controversy Over Texts Escalates
Reynolds’ involvement became unavoidable after court documents revealed a series of scathing messages sent during the height of the dispute. His representative did not shy away from the tone, insisting, “Yes, Ryan got involved — what husband wouldn’t support his wife and the mother of his children?”
The spokesperson framed Reynolds’ actions as protective rather than reckless, explaining, “He saw his wife fighting daily to stand up against sexual harassment in a private and respectful way, only to face retaliation for doing so.”
The defense went further, emphasizing that Reynolds feels no regret over the intensity of his words. “If anything, Ryan feels like he wasn’t angry enough,” the statement continued, underscoring his belief in advocating for safe, harassment-free workplaces.
Backlash Mounts as Baldwin’s Team Challenges Allegations
Per Daily Mail, while Reynolds’ camp doubled down, Baldoni’s legal team rejected the accusations outright. His attorney stated, “As stated all along, and reflected in our clients motions… the evidence does not support the claims as a matter of law.”
Behind the scenes, not everyone is sympathetic to Reynolds. One industry insider described his unfiltered messages about studio executives as making him appear “childish and petulant,” adding that the exposure of private communications clashes with his carefully managed public image.
The controversy stems from Lively’s December 2024 lawsuit accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment, retaliation, and emotional distress, which are claims he denies. She is seeking more than $160 million in damages, with a New York trial scheduled for May 2026. Baldoni’s countersuit against Lively and Reynolds has already been dismissed.
As the legal fight intensifies, the success of It Ends With Us, once a box office triumph, has been eclipsed by a very public unraveling, with Reynolds’ fiery loyalty now part of the case’s most debated evidence.
