As freezing temperatures and snowstorms sweep through Pennsylvania and other states, it feels like one of the worst winters in recent years. Pipes burst (mine included) and roads became a slippery mess. For one woman in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she never thought the freezing temperatures would leave her without a vehicle. Along with several others experiencing the same fate, she wasn’t really expecting her vehicle to be, well, a popsicle.
In Philadelphia, a main water break started spewing water all over the street. As fate would have it, Tianna’s (TikTok/Tiannag444) car was parked nearby. As people drove by, her card would be splashed with water, which would then freeze. Layer by layer, Tianna’s car was encased in ice. Pictures of the vehicle are comical. It looks like a car trapped in a video game’s ice.
Unfortunately, Tianna wasn’t able to do much of anything to prevent it. Tianna says on her original TikTok video that the Philadelphia Police Department ordered her not to move her car after the water line broke. Not only is that incredibly infuriating, but there’s also no way a car would survive that kind of damage.
“Yes, it is totaled btw,” Tianna said in the caption of a TikTok update video. She claims not only was the inside soaked—unsurprising— and it wouldn’t start, even after a jump.
To make matters worse, Tianna can’t get to work. She has one of the most important jobs in the US: a teacher. As a result, Tianna now has to rely on a rental to get to work, and that adds up. And I know teachers aren’t getting paid well, even in Philly.
Luckily, there is a GoFundMe started by Meredith, Tianna’s girlfriend. The commenters are eager to point out that the city should be paying for that. Tianna is currently in talks with her insurance company at this time.
The comments are a mix of jokes, legal advice, and loving support. Others are quick to point out the state should be paying for what Meredith states “wasn’t negligence or recklessness” but an “unfair situation.”
One commenter mentioned, “Hondacicle is crazy,” one commenter joked.
“Make sure there’s documentation they told you not to move or it’s your word against theirs,” another urged.
One jokingly said, “All I know about Philadelphia is cream cheese, Eagles, cheesesteak and now this car.”
Hopefully, Tianna isn’t left in the dust for too long, because it can’t be cheap to rent. You’re putting in at least $20 a day for a car rental.
