It’s one thing to be abusive to one’s subordinates at work, but it’s a whole other level of petty dirtbaggery to then get upset that people speak up against it. That said, one supervisor for a company in Arizona is infamous for yelling at employees, a very unprofessional and rather childish trait. Yet, when people started sending complaints to HR, he retaliated in the most petty way: mocking the workers while they were in the break room, as if they couldn’t catch a break from him.
To clarify, it’s not that the abusive Arizona manager is following anyone into the break room and yelling at them there, too. Instead, he’s leaving behind forms for his victims called the “Hurt Feelings Report.” Based on the title alone, it’s clear what he’s trying to convey, on top of the way he belittles the workers in the form itself. For instance, he demands that people “Tell us in your own sissy way how your feelings were hurt.”
There are several other points throughout the report where the oversensitive manager is subtly poking fun at women, emotional men, and possibly transgender people with hints of misogyny, homophobia, and weird comments on hormones. Clearly, the man’s annoying enough to deal with, but this humiliating report irritated one person enough to make them post the form to r/mildlyinfuriating. “And that’s how you get your entire team to quit on you,” remarks one commenter. “Yeah, this is a textbook example of behavior that creates a hostile work environment, which opens the company up to massive liabilities in the future,” adds another.
As to what OP should do moving forward about this pesky manager, several Redditors have an idea: Fill out the report and send it to upper management. “This is absolutely the power play that needed to happen,” agrees a commenter. “Ooh malicious compliance , yes!” exclaimed a second. “Yeah, that person has no business being in any leadership role,” says a third. A fourth goes as far as to compare the manager to his ex, saying, “Honestly this is one of the most immature things I’ve seen since my abusive ex showed me this same document template a long time ago. Definitely escalate this, HR needs to be involved at this point.”
While it is OP’s decision on whether they want to get back at their rude manager, only time will tell when one or more employees eventually can’t bear it and help get the supervisor put in his place.
