It appears even voters who were once fiercely loyal to Donald Trump in the past are now starting to become disillusioned, and apparently, the straw that broke the camel’s back was one of the President’s latest tweets. It was an AI video portraying Barack and Michelle Obama as apes, something many people considered racist, leading to apologies even from a triple Trump voter from New Mexico.
The call came from a segment of the Washington Journal called C-Span, where they host an open forum and invite regular US citizens to speak up. In the February 6 episode, the caller got triggered by President Trump’s aforementioned ‘racist’ Obama tweet, which has since been deleted. “What an embarrassment to our country!” exclaims the New Mexico caller, “All this man does is tell lies! He’s not worthy of the presidency… and now he’s a racist blatantly!” he added.
The caller went on to somewhat reveal his thought process on why he voted for Trump, implying that he initially believed the man was supposed to deport only dangerous criminals instead of “go after small children” and “storm schools.” Needless to say, the MAGA voter now regrets his votes and says, “I just want to apologize to everybody in the country for supporting this rotten man.”
Meanwhile, Trump’s latest AI smear campaign video, in which he portrays the Obamas and numerous other politicians as animals, has also sparked outrage. It’s not the first AI video the president has shared on his official X/Twitter account, though for many, it’s arguably one of the most blatantly racist, as it appears he chose to exclusively portray the Obamas as gorillas. Trump was also in the video and portrayed himself as a lion.
Many people online are agreeing with the caller
As expected, certain voters who were presumably opposed to Trump as president have chimed in on the matter, with reactions ranging from forgiveness for the caller to doom and gloom. One commenter claims, “Ya know what. I’m still mad at you.. but I forgive you. I don’t forget. But I forgive.”
Sadly, other critics and commenters aren’t really as lenient toward former MAGA supporters, “As Trump supporters finally see the light, they will soon realise that its too late. Even if 80% of the country oppose him, he’s not leaving the Oval office. They will be succession planning now.” The comment likely follows recent statements from MAGA podcasters and Trump’s allies, one of whom claimed that ICE will guard the polls in the upcoming midterm elections.
As for New Mexico, “things are worse than they were before,” according to the caller above. Problems range from a lack of proper healthcare due to a lack of physicians to a lack of jobs for some reason. As it is, such problems aren’t limited to the state, as many others are also suffering the same socio-economic struggles.
