Imagine you’re keeping to yourself in a busy parking lot and you’re approached by someone who has differing views than you. You’d wonder why they took the energy to approach you in the first place. They could have simply gone about their business. Well, unfortunately, this is not what happened in a Florida Publix parking lot as a woman sat in her vehicle. She was approached by an elderly Karen who had opinions about none other than the bumper stickers on her vehicle. And how she acted about it was incredibly disrespectful and uncalled for.
Holly (@melancholy.holly) shared a TikTok showing a confrontation she had in a Publix parking lot when a Karen was deeply offended by her bumper stickers. In the video, the Karen grandma approaches Holly’s vehicle and starts making faces and sounds at her so she’ll roll her window down. Holly continuously tells her to “get out of here” but the grandma continues to fight with her, showing her true colors. Why? The Karen saw Holly’s bumper stickers, which were inherently anti-ICE and anti-Trump.
This angry Karen who can’t control her emotions tells Holly that she hopes ICE comes to “get her.” She continues on even when Holly gets out of her vehicle to confront her, telling her, “You need to get the [expletive] out of here.” The Karen mocks her and tells her it’s a free country and she’s apparently allowed to say whatever she wants. She even makes a move to put her hands on Holly at one point, and Holly pushes her away. After doing so, the Karen immediately threatens her with a weapon. It goes exactly how you would expect it to go, graduating quickly to violence and threats.
Holly gets back in her vehicle and says, “God, I can’t wait for you [expletive] to die.” She rolls up her window while telling the Karen to “shut up.” The Karen quickly retreats to the grocery store. Holly said that all of this could have been avoided if she just “walked to her car like a normal person.” But that’s just it – people can’t extend that kindness to one another. It’s as easy as looking the other way and moving on. Apparently, this Karen didn’t get the memo.
One commenter stated, “The way older people think they can do whatever.” Another person asked, “I wonder who she voted for?”
