Parents in Minnesota have been growing increasingly wary of ICE agents. This is mainly due to various news stories circulating online where kids were allegedly targeted by agents to lure their parents out. Even more parents began to panic when the presence of ICE was detected near schools, bus stops, and even daycare centers. In this video, a vehicle believed to belong to ICE agents was seen tailing a school bus. The cameraman blew his whistle to warn others of ICE’s presence. If you don’t know, some people in Minnesota have started blowing whistles whenever they suspect ICE agents are nearby. As more innocent civilians were reportedly being targeted simply for being in the area, more people decided to keep their distance and use whistles to warn others.
The cameraman chased after the school bus and blew the whistle several times. Then he ran back to the sidewalk and headed toward a row of parked cars. It wasn’t that obvious at first, but you could soon see an ICE agent in their usual get-up between the cars. The cameraman and several other Minnesota citizens shouted at the ICE agents, telling them to stay away from the kids and calling them fascists. Thankfully, things didn’t escalate, and the ICE agents soon left the area.
Online, many people were angry that ICE agents were targeting Minnesota kids. Many argued that what happened to Liam Ramos was enough and that they didn’t want any kids to also get detained. “This is so insane, and anyone who can condone it belongs on a neighborhood watchlist and should be shunned and boycotted,” one user wrote.
Others wondered why ICE agents were even allowed to target children. Some argued that this kind of tactic should become illegal. “That should be against the law. The worst of the worst. Remember that. Don’t start with our children. Don’t,” one commenter said.
A handful of users remarked that what was happening in America reminded them of what was occurring in Palestine right now. “I just watched a video of the IDF chasing a school bus of Palestinian children. It’s a feature, not a bug,” one user commented. Another said, “It has been said that filling a bed (also known as a concrete spot on the floor) with a child is more profitable than an adult… Monsters.”
Some applauded the Minnesota citizens who continued to be brave and went outside to confront ICE agents whenever they were seen. Others suggested that people should call 911 if they saw ICE agents following a school bus, but some said that would be pointless since the police wouldn’t do anything. “Call it in. It would be nice to have the police there to protect the ICE agents,” one user said sarcastically.
