Few things in life are as frustrating as dealing with a Karen, especially when she’s turning a simple parking dispute into a full-blown standoff. This is what allegedly occurred in Miami, Florida, when a Karen sat in a parking spot just as a car was about to pull in, trying to prevent them from parking. The move sparked an awkward exchange between the driver, passengers, and the woman.
The video is filmed from the perspective of one of the passengers in the vehicle, and you can clearly see a middle-aged woman sat in the parking spot of a parking lot, as she nonchalantly stares at her phone. “Ma’am, what?” exclaims one baffled passenger, while another chips in with, “That’s not how it works, ma’am. Our car was here first. You can’t hold the spot, sorry. We’re gonna call the cops if not, and they’re gonna tell you to move.“
The Karen responds saying that it’s not “illegal” to do what she’s doing. However, the driver replies, “Ma’am, we’re not talking legal or illegal, but this is just a stupid situation. Ma’am, obviously my car is here first. Look at the situation we’re in.” while pointing at the fact that her car is partly parked in the spot already. The driver adds, “I’m not trying to be rude, but you can’t–” though she’s interrupted by another vehicle behind her beeping their horn loudly. “Ma’am, I literally don’t know what you want us to do right now. Like, this is a waste of our time.“
Interestingly, the exchange takes a turn when the driver decided to “ask the public.” She turns to the vehicle behind her and asks the male driver, “I’m sorry, our car was here first, and her friend decided to sit in the spot. Is it our spot?” It’s difficult to discern what the specific words the man says, as he’s a little further away, but it appears that he sides with the vehicle over the Karen. This sets off an eruption of cheers from inside the car.
After further back-and-forth, a man who appears to work for the parking lot steps in and yells at the Karen sitting down, saying, “Hey! Hey! Hey! Get up! Get up! Get up!” and immediately, the Karen retreats, and leaves the parking spot. The girls thank the man, though the Karen seemingly says a thinly-veiled threat under her breath as she leaves, saying, “I hope your car’s safe.”
As the video continues to circulate online, netizens took to the comments to chime in with their thoughts. On Reddit, one user couldn’t believe the final threat at the end of the video, penning, “She said “hope your car’s safe” at the end. That’s so insane.” Another replied to this comment, writing, “I lurked her TikTok and she commented that the car was untouched. Thank [expletive]“. A third declared, “The woman in the spot is completely [expletive] obnoxious. I also wouldn’t want to park there after this saga if there wasn’t a camera pointed at my car, because I could see these immature fools coming back to scratch it out of pure spite.” A fourth added, “Lol it’s crazy that as soon as a guy tells her to move, she does“
