Texas Street Cleaning Dispute Leads to Clash Between Worker and Homeless Woman: ‘Call the Police and Tell Them to Get a Search Warrant’

“Honey, you don’t own the parking lot.”

Cleaning private property can be a complicated task, especially when workers have to not only deal with trash and debris, but also with situations where homeless people may be residing there. An incident like this recently unfolded in Dallas, Texas, where a commercial maintenance worker was tasked with clearing a private property but was confronted by a homeless woman who tried to stop him from doing his job. Not only did she ask him to “call the police,” but she also requested a “search warrant.” The footage is currently making the rounds online.

HOMELESS ENCAMPMENT CONFRONTATION ALL DONE IN DALLAS

The footage is filmed from the perspective of the worker, and sees him approaching a homeless person who is sat amongst some trash and debris, which appears to be where she resides. “I’m taking it all right now,” states the maintenance worker, and the woman asks why and who the man is. “‘Cause you gotta go. I work for this commercial--” though the woman interrupts him, and asks, “You have documentation?” The worker doesn’t try to explain the ins and outs of his job and simply responds, “Oh no, I’m just taking it. I ain’t got to ask you [expletive].”

“Call the police,” yells the woman, before adding, “Give me your phone.” The worker gets into his truck, and the woman continues, “Call the police and tell them to get a search warrant.” The man explains, “I don’t have to get a search warrant. You don’t own this property. I’m taking it all.” She repeatedly yells the same thing at the worker about calling the police and getting a search warrant, but the man drives a few yards away to park up nearby.

As he exits his vehicle once again, he says, “You need to get out of the way. You need to move out of the way. I got to pick up this trash.” though the woman continues telling him not to touch anything. The worker then asks her to call the police, but she admits that she does not own a phone. The man then tells her “Honey, you don’t own the parking lot,” but she still continues to argue. Frustrated, he then tells her to let him do his job, and that she’s acting “crazy” ending the clip.

Interestingly, in a follow-up video, while the worker is getting rid of all the rubbish, the management actually confuses him of being the homeless person. Furthermore, in another follow-up, the worker revealed that security and police had to remove the homeless woman from the premises. While removing the final cart that belonged to the woman, the man states, “This is not the easiest thing in the world here. Pushing this damn cart. This thing’s heavy. Wheels are crooked. It’s a [expletive] to be honest.”

With the video circulating online, social media users quickly made their voices heard in the comments. On Youtube, one user wrote, “This is the sadness of homelessness that she believes the parking lot is her home so that gentleman needs a search warrant to remove her stuff. Very sad.” while another chimed in with, “She was like call the police he was like no you call the police she’s like let me use your phone WTF“. A third commenter penned, “she said you need a search warrant for her garbage in the street“. Over on Instagram, one netizen found the whole argument amusing, writing, “Give me your phone 🤡🤣 “.
