There is always controversy surrounding Chris Brown, especially when it comes to his criminal record. Despite his past, he still has a lot of fans who are ready to support him through everything. This is why singer Zara Larsson, who is known for songs Symphony and Lush Life, is facing a lot of backlash from Black women after she called Brown an abuser.
In an interview, Larsson was asked to name one artist that would never be part of her playlist. “There is so many artists I have blocked on Spotify, and all of them are like abusers,” was her answer. The controversial part was when she continued and said, “You certainly wouldn’t find like a Chris Brown song.” This is what led to drama.
Larsson’s answer was probably based on Brown’s previous conviction. In 2009, Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault for physically attacking Rihanna who was his girlfriend back then. This was a case of domestic abuse hence Larsson called him an abuser. Part of his sentence was even receiving domestic violence counseling.
Brown’s fans usually defend him by saying that Rihanna forgave him. This is actually true. According to ABC, Rihanna told Oprah Winfrey in an interview that she had forgiven Brown. “I have forgiven him. I was angry for a long time,” she said back then. This is why his fans still support him despite it all.
People Reacting to Zara Larsson Calling Chris Brown an Abuser
The video of Zara Larsson’s interview got viral quickly and it was published by The Neighborhood Talk. Under that post, dozens of women criticized Larsson and defended Chris Brown. “We don’t care and he don’t either,” one woman wrote. Another fan of Brown also said, “No idea who that even is but Chris ain’t thinking about you at all. Lol I bet he doesn’t even have you on his playlist or know who you are in the first place.”
One person didn’t agree with the defense of Brown though as they said, “The black woman in the comments defending him should be ashamed for dismissing the abuse done onto another black woman during bhm. He not only responded to the situation by almost killing her, he what he did tatted.”
The backlash directed toward Larsson also continued under her own post. Several comments were left under her most recent post where people kept attacking her and supporting Brown. “Girl, who are you? Chris Brown doesn’t even know you exist?” one person wrote. Another person said, “CB still better than you.” Someone else wrote, “keep Chris brown out your miserable clout chasing mouth! Clown.”
Some comments even mocked Larsson’s appearance including one that read, “She got those Erika Kirk man features. Man face [expletive] lol.” There should be no place for bullying over different opinions.
