Happy Pokémon day, everyone! It’s a bit wild to believe that this series has reached its 30-year milestone. Regardless of which region your adventure began, whether that’s Kanto, Hoenn, or even the newer Paldea, the truth is all of us love Pokémon and the joy and memories it has gifted us. And to celebrate this legacy, today we saw the Pokemon Day Presents 2026, which featured several announcements for existing and upcoming games, and also brought the first teaser for the 10th generation, which looks better than anything we’ve seen in recent years.
Every Major Announcement at Pokemon Day Presents 2026
In case you missed it, The Pokemon Company hosted its Pokemon Day Presents today to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary, which, yeah, is going to make a lot of us feel pretty old. Creeping fears of aging aside, this showcase was a banger, as there were many surprises for all Poke-fans out there, and one unexpected announcement that has many of us excited for what’s coming next year. But without further ado, let’s dive into these announcements.
The Legendary Bird Trio and Johto Starters Are Coming to Pokémon Unite
Believe it or not, Pokemon Unite is still going strong, and to celebrate the series’ milestone, it’s adding the legendary bird trio, meaning Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno will be available for everyone. There’s an event happening right now that can help you unlock their licenses. But that’s not all, because Feraligatr, Typhlosion, and Meganium are also coming soon to the game.
Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness is Coming to Nintendo Switch 2
One of the most beloved Pokemon games from the Nintendo GameCube era is finally coming to Nintendo Switch 2, and we’re talking about Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. This title will be part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, meaning that if you’re part of this subscription service, you will be able to play it as soon as it becomes available next month.
Pokémon Home Support Confirmed for FireRed and LeafGreen
We all knew that these timeless classics would be launching today on the Nintendo Switch platform. However, what we didn’t expect was that these two games would actually get Pokemon Home support. While the developers didn’t give us an exact date, they mentioned it is coming soon, which is hopeful, as many of us would like to take some of our Kanto partners with us to other regions.
Pokémon Champions Gets a Release Date
We all remember the teaser of Pokemon Champions, an installment that would cater to the more competitive audience of the series. And after a long wait, we finally know that it is coming to Nintendo Switch in April of 2026. The game will also launch on mobile devices this year, but there isn’t an exact release date yet. Furthermore, we know that Dragonite with its Mega Stone will be an early download bonus reward, and that you’ll be able to transfer Z-A starters to the game once it launches, thanks to Pokemon Home.
Mega Garchomp Z Unveiled for Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension DLC
The latest Pokemon installment still has many pocket creatures to show, and the latest is Mega Garchomp Z. While Mega Garchomp has existed for a while, this new version is coming to the DLC, or rather, early. Players can now receive a mystery gift that will send them on a mission to defeat Mega Garchomp Z. Doing so will reward players with the Mega Stone.
Pokémon Pokopia Unveils New Features Ahead of Its Imminent Release
The new, cozy adventure of Pokemon is right around the corner, and today we got to see many new features, including Rotom playing several familiar music tracks and Chef Dente preparing meals for all Pokemon in your community. We also got to see more of its multiplayer features and several exploration aspects, which we’ll be able to try once the game launches on March 5, 2026.
The 10th Generation, Pokémon Winds & Waves Launches in 2027
And the biggest surprise of this Pokemon Day Presents was, undoubtedly, the reveal of Pokemon Winds & Waves. First, we know that these two mainline installments will launch sometime in 2027. However, we also got to see some of the most beautiful visuals in any modern Pokemon game to date, as well as the three new starters, Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua. There are still a few mysteries surrounding this game, but we’re glad to see that the 10th gen is looking bigger and more beautiful than ever. We can only hope that we get a new trailer soon with some gameplay details and maybe this generation’s legendaries.
Besides that, there were many other announcements for games such as Pokemon Go, which is also celebrating its 10th anniversary, Pokemon TCG Pocket with new booster packs, an update to Pokemon Sleep, and more.
