Another day, another unfortunate fast-food worker harassed by customers. For people who get paid minimum wage, there sure are many things expected of them. Recently, a pair of women from Texas got into a squabble with a Dairy Queen employee about the menu. Allegedly, the two women were trying to order items that were not on the menu at that specific Dairy Queen location.
The video started with one of the Texas women confronting the Dairy Queen employees while her friend recorded on her phone. She tried to remain civil, explaining that they were in the drive-thru earlier and often buy certain menu items from Dairy Queen, so they went in assuming those items would also be available at this Texas location. The manager replied that they had already told them twice to order from the menu, yet the women continued listing items that were not available there.
The Texas woman said her friend was simply trying to tell the driver what she wanted and that they meant no disrespect, but she then accused the Dairy Queen staff of being demeaning toward them. Her friend then spoke up, demanding that the employees provide the store number, their names, and even their employee numbers. The friend claimed that when she asked for that information, she was told to leave. The Dairy Queen manager then replied that she was being rude.
The friend insisted that she was a customer and argued that, as the general manager, it was her responsibility to address their concerns. The Dairy Queen manager responded that she saw no issue with asking someone to leave if they were being rude to her staff. The customer refused to accept that explanation and said she could not believe she was being told to leave. She also claimed they were directed to go to a Dairy Queen competitor, adding that corporate would not be pleased if they found out about the situation.
Although the Texas woman uploaded the video online, the internet did not side with the women. Many remarked that while they initially sympathized with them, the moment they demanded the workers’ identification, they changed their minds. One user jokingly commented:
“What’s your name? What’s your last name? What’s your badge number? What’s your SSN? Can I have the keys to your house? I am customer for corporate ice cream and burger machine and you are slave. What would corporate ice cream and burger machine think about you turning away a customer who wasted time asking about items that weren’t on the menu and then wasting more time coming in to complain about being told those items were not on the menu?”
Others remarked that they found it strange that the Texas women were trying to order items not listed on that Dairy Queen location’s menu and simply expecting them to be available. “So they try ordering things repeatedly off the menu that aren’t on their menu and then get upset when the workers tell them this over and over that they don’t carry those items, until they tell them to go to another store…. Some people just like to be morons,” one Redditor said.
