A security guard working a night shift at an apartment complex in San Jose, California, got the shock of her life during an encounter with a tenant that made her abandon her task and run for safety. She recorded the incident and later shared the video on TikTok.
According to the woman, she had received noise complaints about a resident in the building and decided to follow up. As she made her way upstairs to the man’s floor, she could be heard in the video quietly admitting to herself that she was scared, even before reaching his door.
When she finally knocked, the response from inside sounded hostile. Although it is not entirely clear what was said, it appeared the man was upset about being disturbed. He eventually stepped out.
In the clip, the man, who wore a layered outfit with a dark graphic top over a long-sleeve shirt, did not allow her to get more than a few words out before cutting her off. As soon as she asked him to keep the noise down, he pulled his arm back in a way that suggested he might strike, then stomped his foot while making a loud, aggressive sound.
At that point, the guard did not wait to see what would happen next. She turned around almost instantly and ran down the stairs, briefly glancing back as she tried to create distance. The video shows the man following after her at a slower pace, though she ultimately made it away without being harmed.
Netizens React to the California Apartment Incident
On TikTok, many viewers responded with humor while also acknowledging how real the fear in the moment seemed. “You immediately getting out of there is frying me😂,” one person wrote. Another said, “I would’ve ran all the way home 😂.” A third added, “I would’ve screamed at the top of my lungs ! 😂😂.” A fourth joked, “Glad you’re safe now let’s get you another job😭😭🤎.”
Reactions on X had a slightly different tone, with some users weighing in more critically. “At least she knows her limitations,” one comment read. Someone else chimed in, “Just step down, lady. They can’t comprehend the gravity of danger until it’s too late.”
The video is still picking up traction online, drawing tens of thousands of likes on TikTok. While the guard’s initial comment about being scared before approaching the tenant stood out to viewers, the clip does not indicate whether she had prior interactions with the California man or if he had behaved that way in the past.
