A Texas woman claims no one will hire her because she only speaks English. In her video, she explains that she is proficient in her field yet cannot find a job. Part of her complaint is asking for people “to make it make sense.”

I’m willing to learn any language for a job but they don’t offer that as an option being discriminated in America for being American 😂😂😂 #fyp #viral #dallastexas

The woman specifically addresses the Dallas, Texas area. It is unclear what jobs she is referring to or how long she has been searching. The video has been viewed and liked by thousands, with several supporting her in the comments. However, several feel she should just learn another language.

The video stems from her claims that she can’t get a “job in a native English-speaking country because that’s what she was raised speaking.” She states that she understands why jobs expect employees to be bilingual. However, she says, “I didn’t grow up bilingual.” The Texas woman shares that while she’s willing to learn Spanish, she feels discriminated against. She also alleges that “they don’t even offer training [in teaching Spanish].”

One of the main issues she addresses is that while she understands the population is native Spanish speakers, she “would never move to another country and not indulge in their native language.” She provides an example, stating that if she moved to Brazil, she would learn Portuguese. The Texas woman estimates that after a year, she would be fluent in the language. She also claims she is more qualified than others getting hired.

Mixed Reactions To Texas Woman’s Claims

Most of the comments seem to support the woman’s claims, with one stating, “I live in South Texas. I understand your pain.” Another agrees, “California too!! Girl, I had to drive all the way to Santa Barbara to get work!” One suggests that she should “file complaints and start suing.” However, others feel differently, taking issue with her statements. One says, “We have all kinds of people, we as Americans should know more than one language, why would u want to exclude someone bc u dnt speak their language?” One commenter says it’s not just her struggling, saying, “A lot of us who are bilingual are struggling to find a job too, so it’s not even about that.”

This video has gotten attention as the Texas woman brings up a hot-button issue. Several agree with her, claiming they have similar issues getting jobs because they aren’t bilingual. Others appear to take issue with her claiming English is the native language. Regardless, her words have sparked heated responses from those in the comments.

It is unclear what her next step is or if she’s planning to start learning a second language.
