One thing that tends to infuriate citizens of whatever place is when a celebrity halts everything in a city just for them to do something. However, it is even worse if a famous figure has recently done something wrong, as it just adds salt to an open wound. In this case, we’re referring to Mark Zuckerberg, who just paraded his yacht around Washington, raised the Ballard Bridge to let it pass, and possibly messed with some people’s day in the process. Yet, that isn’t the worst part. What makes the whole thing even more disappointing is the fact that the Meta CEO just laid off 1,400 employees in Washington.
User bobjohnsonre on Reddit shared a picture of Zuckerberg’s yacht passing under the Ballard Bridge. Besides the fact that this likely stalled many people that day. And while many have already complained about this, some have instead focused on something Zuckerberg’s company did recently that affected 1,400 people in Washington.
As many of you may already know, Meta laid off 1,400 employees this week. While they seem to have received severance packages of 16 weeks of base pay plus two more for each year they worked in the company, people were still furious after learning of this.
Naturally, when several citizens saw Zuckerberg parading his yacht, they thought the taming was awful and heavily criticized the CEO, as it made this situation look heartless, especially to those who had just lost their jobs.
Zuckerberg Under Fire After Taking His Yacht Out in Washington
People have expressed their opinions in the Reddit comments, and most of them are shaming the CEO for what he did at the company and now for his yacht.
“Didn’t he just lay off 1400 Washingtonians? Classy.“
“Wait, did he travel to lay people off on his yacht?“
“Rooting for orcas to sink it.”
A few others also noted that they had to raise the Ballard Bridge to let Zuckerberg through, which many see as a slap in the face after what Meta did a couple of days ago.
“Stopping traffic in the middle of the day for his yacht. I wonder if anyone stuck in traffic waiting for this personal cruise ship is among the 1400 he fired.“
In the end, it seems this whole situation backfired on Zuckerberg. According to many, it seems the CEO grabbed his yacht and sailed away after letting go of so many employees, and many consider this an unforgivable and obscene act.
