Drunk Florida Man Nearly Crashes Car Into Airplane While Trying to Board It After Attending AA Meeting: ‘What Happened at that Meeting’

GTA needs to keep up with Florida

A bizarre and alarming runway incident unfolded Wednesday afternoon at Daytona Beach International Airport, where a heavily intoxicated Florida man allegedly drove onto an active runway and attempted to board multiple aircraft in what authorities are calling a near-catastrophic security breach. To make his actions even weirder, the man actually came straight from his Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

NEW: Florida man leaves AA meeting, does cocaine, drinks, and smokes pot, then crashes through the gate at Daytona Beach Airport and tries to hijack a plane

“I was at my house, I went to an AA meeting, and next thing I know I’m doing cocaine, drinking, and smoking pot…”

The suspect, identified as 58-year-old Bryan J. Parker of Holly Hill, reportedly crashed his blue Ford Mustang through a locked perimeter gate around 4:25 p.m., according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. Witnesses say Parker then sped onto a taxiway, narrowly missing a taxiing training aircraft operated by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

After breaching the gate, Parker abandoned his vehicle and attempted to enter an occupied, running aircraft, but was unable to gain access. He then sprinted toward two additional planes, managing to briefly climb into one before being forcibly removed by an airport operations technician.

Authorities described Parker as “highly intoxicated,” later confirming he admitted to consuming both alcohol and illegal substances before the incident. In body camera footage released after his arrest, Parker appeared disoriented, telling deputies he had no memory of how events escalated so quickly. “I don’t remember,” he said when questioned.

In a strange twist, Parker told deputies he had attended a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous shortly before driving to the aeronautical university, raising eyebrows about what may have happened between the meeting and the runway chaos. Even after being detained momentarily on the back of a truck, Parker reportedly broke free and made a final dash toward yet another aircraft before being subdued and handcuffed by airport personnel and security officers.

Straight Out of AA

Despite the dramatic scene, airport officials confirmed that operations were not significantly disrupted, and no injuries were reported. However, Parker now faces a long list of serious charges, including attempted aircraft piracy, burglary, felony trespass, DUI with damage, and refusal to submit to testing. He is currently being held without bond (at the time of writing) at the Volusia County Jail as federal authorities, including the FBI, review the case.

Investigators are still working to determine Parker’s exact intentions. Still, one question continues to linger: how did a routine day and an AA meeting spiral into a runway invasion that could have ended in tragedy? It’s something people online wondered about, with one X commenter even questioning, “What the [expletive] happened at that meeting?”

Others pointed out the obvious, with some commenters claiming, “Sir that’s the opposite of what you’re supposed to be doing after an AA meeting 😂.” Meanwhile, some observant X users brought attention to one of Parker’s excuses, where he can be heard saying, “Tate, yeah. Tate paid me to do it.”
