A woman in Dallas, Texas, says she will no longer use Lyft after sharing her experience with one of the company’s drivers. According to her, the driver left while they were discussing seating. She also claims the driver later filed a report that led to her account being restricted.

I hate being this vulnerable, but I had to address this… @Lyft this is unacceptable. UPDATE: The day after this post went live a rep at Lyft reached out to me and looked into this situation. They informed me that the driver, Tarik, made a false report claiming that I was underage and that is the reason why I could no longer request rides, or even use the app at all. In no instance was she right in this situation and for me, this confirms it even more. Although I may not ever use the app again, I appreciate that they finally did something, even though I wish it were sooner. And I hope that they better the way they handle these situations; drop the AI support, invest in hiring people, and train them for the better. Even with the false report, my ID is verified on my account. A human would have seen that. I really do appreciate all of you that have been so supportive and also sharing your stories 🫶🏽 because without it, I would have never known.

The video, shared on TikTok by user @thewatchedlist, known as Bree, has gained traction, drawing over 1 million views and thousands of comments.

The video appears to show Bree Stephens describing an interaction with a Lyft driver, including the moment she says the driver left while she was speaking, and her account was later restricted.

She said she had gone out with friends to a local karaoke bar. Following the meet-up, she requested a six-seat Lyft for her and her friends. However, when the driver arrived, she said she could only fit four. Bree, confused, counted how many seats they would need, and it turned out she only needed four.

She attempted to explain this to the driver, saying she had initially requested an SUV that could seat six people, but she was willing to accept the ride regardless. However, according to her, the Lyft driver cut her off mid-sentence, said, “Okay, that’s fine,” and took off with her door still open.

Immediately, Bree contacted Lyft’s customer support. They issued a refund and apologized, eventually agreeing to give the driver a 1-star rating and to ensure Bree was never matched with her again.

The Texas woman revealed that, after arriving home, she found that she had been logged out of the Lyft app. Then, after logging back in, she was unable to order any rides or access customer support again.

In an update on her clip’s description, she detailed that Lyft had contacted her, saying the driver later filed a report claiming Bree was underage. She believes this led to her account being restricted.

“It is just disgusting how this person treated me, and it’s disgusting how they treated me on this app,” Bree said.

Video Sparks Reactions to Lyft Incident

The video sparked multiple responses. Some users criticized Lyft’s response. One user said, “Lyft not responding in comments says it all.” Others shared similar experiences, writing, “My Lyft driver stopped to get gas during mid-ride. I was late to work.”

Some viewers downplayed the situation. One commenter said, “This is really not that big of a deal.” Others defended the Lyft driver, writing, “Drivers have the right to cancel rides for whatever reason.” These responses were then criticized by other users, calling them out for refusing to understand Bree’s situation.
