Customers who bought a seafood boil from a restaurant in Maryland are claiming they found something unexpected mixed in with their food. In a video that was shared on X on Wednesday by @blackmonroe____, they showed what appeared to be a small, dark-shelled turtle sitting among the contents of their order. The clip has since gone viral for its shocking content, racking up close to a million views as of the time of writing.
The incident reportedly took place at a seafood restaurant along Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights. The customers said they left the establishment after purchasing the meal and only discovered the turtle when they later opened the bag.
In the footage that was shared, they returned to the restaurant to report what they had found. After they spread out the nylon bag containing the seafood boil to show the turtle to an employee, the worker did not appear convinced. He suggested it may not have come from their kitchen. The customers, however, insisted that it had been inside their order from the start. One of them even remarked that her children could have easily mistaken it for one of the other items in the boil.
The video does not show what happened afterward, so it remains unclear how the situation was resolved or whether the customers received a refund.
What Netizens Are Saying About the Seafood Boil Incident in Maryland
On X, reactions have been heavily divided. Some comments leaned into the absurdity of the situation, with one person writing, “I mean turtles do come from the sea.” Another joked, “Y’all got the teenage ninja turtle seafood boil.” A third added, “At least you know the food fresh,” while someone else said, “The way I would’ve popped that in my mouth and started crunching on it.”
Others did not see anything wrong with the turtle being mixed up with their order. “Its a seafood boil what’s the issue,” one comment read. Another asked, “Are turtles not edible? Do they not live in the sea? so aren’t they technically seafood?” A third commented, “How is that any grosser than the other critters in there.”
At the same time, some viewers were more skeptical and suggested the customers may have staged it. “That was definitely placed in there by the person recording,” one netizen wrote. Another added, “Looks like a toy and that person looking to go viral.”
Based on the clip, the turtle did not appear to be alive, though its presence in the food has still left many puzzled about how it could have ended up there in the first place.
