An aunt in Arizona was watching her sister’s infant while her sister went on vacation with the rest of her family. To her shock, the baby began crawling for the first time, and now she wonders whether she should tell her sister at all.
The aunt in question is Stacie Zerante, who shared her dilemma on TikTok. She posts lifestyle content and has more than 40,000 followers. The clip in question quickly became one of her biggest, garnering 482,900 views, 75,000 likes, and more than 800 comments.
From the get-go, the Arizona woman appeared nervous. She explained that she had been watching her six-month-old nephew, Teddy, while her sister went on a vacation with her husband and their toddler child. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary as Stacie documented her time with the lovely boy online.
However, it all changed that very morning. According to Stacie, Teddy started crawling.
“It’s more of a scoot, but it’s travelling,” Stacie said. “He’s getting from point A to point B. And he was not doing this a few days ago when she dropped him off.”
Stacie then talked directly to her nephew, telling him that he was not supposed to be hitting milestones with her. “You’re supposed to do that with your mama,” she added.
Freaked out about what to do, the Arizona aunt blocked her sister from her post and asked her followers for advice. She said, “Do I tell her that this happened, or do I allow her to believe that when she sees it for the first time, that’s the first time that it’s happening?“
Internet Debates Stacie’s Dilemma
The video sparked many responses.
Many users said that Stacie should not only tell her sister but also brag about it. One viewer commented, “I would brag and say it was my influence that advanced him.” Another one agreed, saying, “Def tell and brag.”
Others were shocked that such a milestone was hit while in her care. One user wrote, “As a nanny and someone who’s worked with babies for years, I have most definitely NEVER seen a baby hit a milestone… like ever…” Finally, a mother added, “My mom rule was if I didn’t see it myself, it didn’t happen.”
Such a heartwarming video was likely to elicit a reaction, especially from an established account like Stacie’s. Baby milestone videos are virality magnets, and Stacie’s dilemma, which sparked hundreds of responses, surely helped the video get as big as it did.
In the end, the boy’s mother did find out during her vacation at Disneyland, as seen in her clip. Apparently, someone pulled her aside and told her what had happened.
