Two women in California sparked online outrage after sharing their account of an incident they say happened while they were wearing MAGA hats.
The two women were at Goathill Tavern in Costa Mesa when they apparently approached a man to speak with him. According to their account, once he noticed they were wearing MAGA hats, he confronted them.
In the video recorded, the man is heard calling the women “fascists” after noticing their MAGA hats. He tells them, “Fascist get out of my face,” while continuing to refer to the woman filming as a fascist. In response, the woman appears surprised and asks, “Over a hat?” before adding, “I didn’t do anything to you.”
In response, the man told her, “Yeah, over a hat. I don’t give a [expletive]. If you wear that hat you are a fascist.” The woman then asked him if he was a man or a boy, and he replied, “I don’t give a [expletive]. I don’t care. I don’t talk to fascists.” By the end of the video, it appears the woman had initially approached with the intention of complimenting him before the interaction escalated. The clip concludes with the man stating that he does not want her to compliment him.
The video is gaining attention due to an incident involving a confrontation over political symbols that the women were wearing. The situation has sparked discussion online about political tensions in public spaces, differing interpretations of tolerance and respect during disagreements, and broader debates about how people should interact when they encounter views they strongly disagree with.
Outrage After California Women Get Harassed
The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers expressed anger over the incident in California and sympathized with the two women, saying they should not have been confronted over a political hat. This led some commenters to criticize the man’s behavior and his use of the term fascist. “The real fascist calling someone a fascist over a hat. Obviously he doesn’t know what a fascist is. He should look in the mirror,” one person wrote. Another added, “Whenever they call you fascist, simply ask them to define the word fascist and then watch them explode.”
Others believed the women should have avoided engaging further in the situation. “I certainly disagree with that guys opinion but I also disagree with the video taker for recording him. Are you wearing MAGA hats because you believe in it or are you wearing them for the confrontation? If that’s what you’re doing go wear them at an anti-ICE rally, not so you can get some lame [expletive] joker to insult you at a bar,” one person argued.
The video was controversial to many viewers and sparked strong reactions online, with people divided over the confrontation and expressing differing opinions about what took place and how it was handled.
