A New Jersey man is convinced that a larger conspiracy is happening with a tree in his yard. The man believes that not only is this tree fake, but that it’s also moving closer to his house. He goes outside daily to measure the distance between it and the fence, which he claims is changing.
The New Jersey man breaks down his theory in a series of TikTok videos. Millions are invested in what’s happening, eagerly waiting to see what he posts next. The first video has received over 35 million views, with 4 to 6 million views per new update.
In the first video, he compares two trees in his yard. The first tree he describes as “knowing it well,” while the second tree he claims not to recognize. He says, “This [expletive] thing is not real.” The man claims the tree is not in “any childhood photos” and “doesn’t show up on Google maps.” This has led the man to the conclusion that the tree is fake. He is also convinced that the tree is moving. The next update he provides shows him measuring the distance of the tree to the fence by walking.
The man continues to question what he is seeing, describing the situation as unusual and difficult to explain, stating, “Everything about this thing looks fake.” The video shows him knocking on the tree, and the sound doesn’t seem real to him. He also claims that he’s never seen a bird in the tree, a conclusion he reached after staring at it for two and a half hours. At this point, the New Jersey man says, “I’m genuinely [expletive] freaked out.” After running the math, he’s questioning what’s real and what’s not.
Everyone Has Eyes On The New Jersey Tree
Those following the videos have suggested on TikTok that he tie yarn between the two trees to see if it droops. He has taken this action in another update video. Everyone seems to have their eyes on the mysterious tree, enjoying every second. One says, “That tree [is] definitely up to no wood.” Another offers some encouragement, “I am rooting for you.” A third says, “Don’t worry, trees are all bark and no bite.”
However, others are entertained at the thought of what his neighbors must be thinking. One suggests, “HONEY! THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS YELLING AT THE TREE AGAIN!” Meanwhile, others are convinced there’s a logical explanation. One suggests that he “should look up walking trees.” One commenter has a unique suggestion: “Tell it what is going on in the world. It can tell the other trees.”
His latest update has him more convinced than ever that the tree is moving. In the video, he claims the yarn has drooped between the two trees.
