A Utah woman found out what it feels like to be pushed to her limits by rude people while out to eat with her daughter. While at a Chick-Fil-A, her daughter started coughing due to her allergies. Immediately, they were approached by another customer who seemed angry and had a lot to say.
Lira (@liraventure) shared a TikTok video of a confrontation at a Utah Chick-fil-A after her 3-year-old started coughing. An elderly man points at the table where Lira and her daughter are sitting as he exclaims, “She’s sick!” Lira tries to explain, “My daughter coughed and now they’re harassing my 3-year-old.” Immediately, her daughter starts crying from the back-and-forth anger between the two adults.
The man told Lira that her daughter should cover her face if she was “sick.” Lira said the coughing was related to allergies.
A Chick-fil-A employee stepped in and asked about the situation. The man explained that he was concerned about his wife’s health and suggested the child should be wearing a mask.
The employee responded that families are welcome in the restaurant, but the man continued to address the child, repeating that she should “put a mask on” and gesturing to show how to do it. As the exchange continued, Lira’s daughter became visibly upset.
Lira told the man to leave her family alone and asked the employee to help keep a distance between them. She also said she would contact authorities if the situation continued.
The employee then asked the man to step away and warned that further disruption could result in his removal from the restaurant.

Many people are clearly on Lira’s side and believe that the man acted irrationally in the incident.
One commenter asked, “How can you eat with a mask on?! You’re out eating lunch. If your wife is sick, she should stay home.” Another commenter stated, “A round of applause for the manager who helped the mom.” Others said they felt sad for Lira’s daughter, who was clearly distressed by the confrontation. One said, “You handled this better than me! It literally broke my heart when she said she needed to go home.”
