A tense confrontation at a California Dunkin’ has gone viral after a customer became involved in a heated exchange with employees over an apple juice order. Video of the incident, later shared online, shows staff and the customer arguing inside the restaurant as bystanders looked on. The footage has since been widely shared across social media, with viewers debating both the customer’s reaction and the employees’ handling of the situation.

In the video, an employee behind the counter can be heard telling the customer, “I’m telling you, ma’am, you can’t substitute the coffee.” The frustrated patron responds that she did not want coffee for her son and instead expected apple juice with the meal, saying, “I didn’t want no coffee for my son. I wanted my son to have apple juice.” The employee then offers a refund if the sandwich and coffee are returned, but the customer declines, insisting, “I want the meals, but I don’t want the ice coffee because I want him to drink apple juice and not coffee.”

The woman continues to insist on receiving apple juice instead of coffee and escalates the exchange by accusing staff of “lying” to her about the order. At one point, she even reaches over the counter to look at the employee’s screen as the dispute continues. However, the worker maintains that the meal only comes with coffee and points to signage displayed above the counter to reinforce the store’s policy.

The situation escalates further as she begins shouting and using expletives. She requests a manager and calls a staff member “rude,” prompting an employee to respond that she is being disrespectful to both staff and other customers, before warning that police may be called if the situation continues. At the end of the clip, the employee appears to knock the customer’s phone away after it is pushed close to their face while recording.

Social Media Reaction to the Dunkin’ Incident

As the video continues to circulate online, many social media users have criticized the customer’s behaviour toward staff, with reactions focusing on how the situation unfolded. On Reddit, one user wrote, “People have gotten to the point where they believe recording someone automatically makes them right.” Another commented, “All of this over apple juice?? In a place that is worldwide known to sell coffee…” A third added, “Girl, it’s Dunkin’ — your kid isn’t getting nutrition regardless of the drink.” A fourth simply expressed, “Feel so bad for the kid tho…“
